    , Article World Academy of Science, Engineering and Technology ; Volume 38 , 2009 , Pages 1094-1099 ; 2010376X (ISSN) Babaee, S ; Sharifazadeh, H ; Sharif University of Technology
    2009
    Abstract
Throughout this paper four locomotion mechanisms have been presented for underwater robo-sankes. In this respect; initially, two methods of locomotion including traveling and standing wave have been examined. Next, applications of these methods are described. Ultimately, assessing and comparison of those mechanisms have been studied and the best plan is determined. © 2009 WASET.ORG

Mechanical and chemical pressure effects on the AeFe 2 As 2 (Ae = Ba, Sr, Ca) compounds: Density functional theory

    , Article Computational Materials Science ; Volume 160 , 2019 , Pages 233-244 ; 09270256 (ISSN) Aghajani, M ; Hadipour, H ; Akhavan, M ; Sharif University of Technology
    Elsevier B.V  2019
    Abstract
We have studied the pressure-induced structural, magnetic and electronic properties of AeFe 2 As 2 (Ae = Ba, Sr, Ca) compounds in the framework of density functional theory within the GGA-PBE method. The effects of chemical pressure generated by Sr and Ca substitutions in BaFe 2 As 2 have been investigated. We have found a magnetic transition at the same primitive unit cell volume, around 81 Å 3 for the (Ba⧹Ca)Fe 2 As 2 compounds, which predicts a magnetic transition pressure of 12 GPa for SrFe 2 As 2 . The structural parameters of FeAs 4 tetrahedra are obtained after ionic relaxation and compared with the existing experimental results. The change of these internal parameters is ascribed to...

High pressure effects on electronic and magnetic properties of LaOFeAs superconductor

    , Article Journal of Superconductivity and Novel Magnetism ; Vol. 27, issue. 7 , 2014 , p. 1689-1692 Khosroabadi, H ; Sandoghchi, M ; Akhavan, M ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
The effect of pressure has been studied on structural and electronic properties of LaOFeAs high-T c superconductor by ab initio density functional theory by using pseudopotential Quantum Espresso code. The lattice parameters and ionic positions in the ambient pressure and some high pressure up to 20 GPa have been calculated. The obtained data versus the simple scaling relation for the ionic positions and distances for mechanical pressures have been discussed. The results of band structure and magnetic moment calculations of this compound versus the applied pressure are presented in this paper. The results are compared with the other experimental and computational data in the literature

A comparative numerical study on the performances and vortical patterns of two bioinspired oscillatory mechanisms: Undulating and pure heaving

    , Article Applied Bionics and Biomechanics ; Volume 2015 , 2015 ; 11762322 (ISSN) Ebrahimi, M ; Abbaspour, M ; Sharif University of Technology
    IOS Press  2015
    Abstract
The hydrodynamics and energetics of bioinspired oscillating mechanisms have received significant attentions by engineers and biologists to develop the underwater and air vehicles. Undulating and pure heaving (or plunging) motions are two significant mechanisms which are utilized in nature to provide propulsive, maneuvering, and stabilization forces. This study aims to elucidate and compare the propulsive vortical signature and performance of these two important natural mechanisms through a systematic numerical study. Navier-Stokes equations are solved, by a pressure-based finite volume method solver, in an arbitrary Lagrangian- Eulerian (ALE) framework domain containing a 2D NACA0012 foil...

Effects of fluorine doping and pressure on the electronic structure of lao1−x fx feas superconductor: a first principle study

    Abstract
The effects of fluorine doping on the electronic structure of LaO1−xFxFeAs superconductor have been investigated by ab initio density functional theory using pseudopotential quantum espresso code. Firstly, we have studied the role of fluorine doping on the electronic structure of LaO1−xFxFeAs by calculation of band structure, density of states, and Fermi surfaces at various doping levels x = 0.00, 0.25, and 0.50. The lattice parameters and ionic position have been determined by optimizing crystal structure. Our results show that doping decreases cell volume similar to mechanical pressure and shifts the bands and states near the Fermi level toward the lower energies. According to the Fermi...

    Abstract
Waterflooding has been regarded as an efficient method for pressure maintenance of oil reservoirs. x Improved techniques such as Smart Water flooding as a new EOR/IOR process has gained more momentum based on the recent research activities in this field and the reduction of oil price. Despite many efforts on achieving the governing mechanisms of Smart Water flooding in many individual fields, most of data are sparse and more possible mechanisms which explains all the interactions yet to be introduced. This experimental study used a systematic laboratory framework which is based on seawater treatments at fixed ionic strength to eliminate the ionic strength effects, NaCl considered as the...

An experimental investigation of the reduced frequency effects into pressure coefficients of a plunging airfoil

    , Article 7th International Conference on Advances in Fluid Mechanics, AFM'08, The New Forest, 21 May 2008 through 23 May 2008 ; Volume 59 , 2008 , Pages 153-161 ; 17433533 (ISSN); 9781845641092 (ISBN) Mani, M ; Ajalli, F ; Soltani, M. Abstract
Aerodynamic coefficients on a two dimensional plunging airfoil, in a low-speed wind tunnel are presented. Dynamic motion was produced by plunging the model over a range of reduced frequencies, and mean angles of attack. The Reynolds number in the present test was held fixed (Re = 1.5×10 5), and the reduced frequency was varied in an almost wide range. Surface static pressure distribution was measured on the upper and lower sides of the model, during the oscillating motion. It was found that reduced frequency had strong effects on the pressure distribution, near the leading edge of the airfoil. For mean equivalent angles of attack of 0, 5 degrees, hysteresis loops on the upper surface of the...

Modeling of twin-entry radial turbine performance characteristics based on experimental investigation under full and partial admission conditions

    , Article Scientia Iranica ; Volume 16, Issue 4 B , 2009 , Pages 281-290 ; 10263098 (ISSN) Hajilouy, A ; Rad, M ; Shahhosseini, M. R ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
In this paper, the performance of a turbocharger twin-entry radial inflow turbine is investigated analytically and experimentally under steady state, full and partial admission conditions. In this modeling, the mass flow rate, pressure ratio and efficiency of the turbine are assumed unknown. The turbine geometry and the inlet total pressure and temperature are known, hence, the turbine performance characteristics can be obtained. In the turbocharger laboratory, performance characteristics of the turbine are determined, measuring the main parameters for various operating conditions. Comparing the model and experimental results shows good agreement. Also, considering the effect of test...
