Emergency Medical Service Centers Location
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Eshghi, Kourosh (Supervisor)
Abstract
The Emergency Medical Services (EMS) have a major role in decreasing the mortality rate and reducing the non-reversible effects of injuries by on time care to patients and transporting them to hospitals if it is needed. Since there is an important goal directly related to the human life, any research or study to improve the performance of EMS is highly recommended. One of the most important parameters in evaluation of EMS is to measure the coverage time of a demand. The locations of EMS play substantial role to decrease the response time. So the locations of EMS stations are very important especially in large and populated cities. Mainly, there are three problems that EMS managers should...
An optimum design and simulation of an innovative mobile robotic nurse unit to assist paraplegic patients

Abstract
This paper describes a nursing robot system currently under development at the Center of Excellence in Design, Robotics and Automation. Our goal was to design and fabricate of a robot specifically for paraplegic patients and the design procedure led to a plan which can be employed in any hospital environment. Through the design procedure, the team members conducted a survey on the robot client's needs and disabilities which provided a unique view on mechanical design features, in addition to, performing dynamical analysis on the designed mechanisms. Dynamical Simulation of mechanisms helped us to find the best design and solutions as well as optimization of parts has resulted in a matchless...
Evaluation of Performance of Emergency Relief Vehicles Responding to Traffic Accidents in Tehran
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Nassiri, Habibollah (Supervisor)
Abstract
High number of traffic accidents in Iran and its rate which is well above the world's average is a major issue of concern. The results of recent researches show a direct relation between survival rate of traffic accidents' injuries and the Emergency Response Time (ERT). The main objective of this research is to analyze different aspects of ERT in Tehran, Iran and to compare these results with the International standards. This study intends to compare the selected routes by ambulance drivers with the shortest paths recommended by EMME/2. Results of analysis show that when the travel time between accident scene and the emergency dispatch center is less than 8 minutes, the possibility of...
Location and Relocation of Ambulances under Uncertainty Conditions
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Rafiee, Majid (Supervisor)
Abstract
The aim of Emergency Medical Services (EMS) is to provide fast medical care and to transport patients to hospitals at the earliest possible time, so as to reduce injury and fatality rate. Healthcare managers try to improve healthcare systems by reducing the response time to demands. In this thesis, we present mathematical models for the problem of location and relocation of emergency vehicles after the end of their service time or after they have returned to a hospital. We believe that implementing these models can help managers improve the performance of emergency medical services. In the first part of this study, we present a two-level deterministic optimization model considering demand...
