    Today, MEMS have wide applications in modern technologies. Magneto hydro dynamic (MHD) micropumps play an important role in the MEMS industry and have been thoroughly studied in the recent years. In this study, the idea of classic reciprocating micropumps was combined with magneto hydro dynamics (MHD) to develop a novel Magneto Mercury Reciprocating (MMR) micropump. To attain this goal, the Lorentz force, as the actuation mechanism, was used to move a conductive liquid (mercury) slug in a reciprocating manner in order to suck the working fluid (air) from the inlet and pump it to the outlet.     Software Defined Networking (SDN) provides a logically centralized view of the state of the network, and as a result opens up new ways to manage and monitor networks. In this paper we introduce a novel approach to network intrusion detection in SDNs that takes advantage of these attributes. Our approach can detect compromised routers that produce faulty messages, copy or steal traffic or maliciously drop certain types of packets.     In this study, we have investigated the use of electrodeposited Au-Pt nanoparticles (AuPtNPs) on indium tin oxide (ITO) for the detection of Hg2+ heavy ions in water samples. The mechanism of AuPtNP electrocrystallization on ITO glass in an aqueous solution containing 0.5 mM HAuCl4 + 0.5 mM H2PtCl6 is described for the first time. The nucleation mechanism of monometallic AuNPs on ITO was found to be progressive; however, a transition from progressive to instantaneous was observed for bimetallic AuPtNPs at elevated overpotentials.     A highly sensitive and simple indirect spectrophotometric method has been developed for the determination of trace amounts of inorganic mercury (Hg2 +) in aqueous media. The method is based on the inhibitory effect of Hg2 + on the activity of horseradish peroxidase (HRP) in the oxidation of ascorbic acid by hydrogen peroxide followed by the reduction of Au3 + to Au-NPs by unreacted ascorbic acid and the measurement of the absorbance of localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) peak of gold nanoparticles (at 530 nm) which is directly proportional to the concentration of Hg2 +.     Alaboratory testing program was conducted to investigate the effects of microstructure on the water retention curve (WRC) and wetting-drying induced volume change in loess. The axis translation and vapor equilibrium techniques were adopted to control suction in the range of 0-400 kPa and 4-140 MPa, respectively. Hysteresis in the WRC of loess was observed for the entire range of suction studied. Compared to re-compacted loess, intact loess exhibits a more pronounced hysteresis in the suction range below 20 kPa, which can be explained by the ink-bottle pore neck effect or constricted pores.     In this paper we have proposed an evolutionary algorithm to induct fuzzy classification rules. The algorithm uses an ant colony optimization based local searcher to improve the quality of final fuzzy classification system. The proposed algorithm is performed on Intrusion Detection as a high-dimensional classification problem.     A catalytic membrane reactor was synthesized by coating a 4-5 micron thick Ni/γ-Al2O3 layer on top of a hydrogen selective SiO2/Al2O3 composite membrane using a sol-gel method.     Here, the carboxamide ligand N-(thiazole-2-yl) picolinamide (L) was synthesized in an ionic liquid tetrabutylammonium bromide (TBAB) as the benign reaction medium. The sensitivity of L towards different metal-ions was investigated, and a comprehensive, logical optical investigation was conducted for the IIB transition metal ions, Hg2+, Cd2+ and Zn2+, based on off-on switch sensor protocols.
