    Abstract
Acording to the prevalence of cancer in today's societies, it is too important to find new drugs for that treatment. Cationic antimicrobial peptides that are able to eliminate a wide range of bacteria, fungi, parasites, viruses and unicellular, are natural anti-cancer agents. In the present study, the effect of cationic peptides of bee venom Melittin (ML) and Lactoferrin (LF) of camel milk which was loaded on the Perfluorooctyl Bromide (PFOB) nanoparticles, were examined on MCF7 cells. Nanoparticles using oil in water emulsion was prepared by ultra-thoracic and ultrasonic. Then ML and LF were separately added to the nanoparticles then incorporation of them were confirmed by tryptophan...

Graphene oxide-starch-based micro-solid phase extraction of antibiotic residues from milk samples

    , Article Journal of Chromatography A ; Volume 1591 , 2019 , Pages 7-14 ; 00219673 (ISSN) Golzari Aqda, T ; Behkami, S ; Raoofi, M ; Bagheri, H ; Sharif University of Technology
    Elsevier B.V  2019
    Abstract
In this study, a method was described for the extraction of three antibiotic residues from cow milk samples using a graphene oxide–starch–based nanocomposite. The prepared nanocomposites were employed as an extractive phase for micro-solid phase extraction of antibiotics from cow milk samples. The extracted antibiotics, i.e. amoxicillin, ampicillin and cloxacillin, were subsequently analyzed by high-performance liquid chromatography–ultraviolet detection (HPLC–UV). Important variables associated with the extraction and desorption efficiency were optimized. High extraction efficiencies for the selected antibiotics were conveniently achieved using the starch–based nanocomposite as the...

Evaluation of partial least-squares regression with multivariate analytical figures of merit for determination of 10 pesticides in milk

, Article International Journal of Environmental Analytical Chemistry ; March , 2020 Koleini, F ; Balsini, P ; Parastar, H ; Sharif University of Technology
    Taylor and Francis Ltd  2020
    Abstract
A multi-residue method using gas chromatography coupled with flame ionisation detector has been developed for simultaneous determination of 10 pesticides in milk. The methodology involved a sample clean-up procedure using ‘quick, easy, cheap, effective, rugged and safe’ followed by a preconcentration step based on dispersive liquid–liquid microextraction. In this regard, acetonitrile was added to the milk sample with specific pH and ionic strength, and the mixture was rigorously shaken. The extracts were centrifuged; then, the organic phase (acetonitrile) was transferred to a test tube and was mixed with deionised water. The mixture was sonicated and chloroform was added as an acceptor phase...

Milk cholesterol reduction using immobilized Lactobacillus acidophilus ATCC1643 in sodium-alginate

    Abstract
Lactobacillus acidophilus is one of the major microorganisms which are famous for their effects on cholesterol. In this study, we have investigated the effect of L. acidophilus ATCC 1643 on removing the milk cholesterol and additionally, we have immobilized L. acidophilus ATCC1643 cells in sodium-alginate and observed its effect on milk cholesterol removing. Also, we have researched about the effect of some factors including: bacteria cells number (both free and immobilized cells) and immobilized cells bead size on cholesterol removing rate and ultimately the extracted results were compared together. The results indicated that free cells could reduce cholesterol to lower than 0.5mg/100ml...

Development and Application of Miniaturized Nearinfrared Spectroscopy Coupled with Multivariate Classification Techniques for Food Authenticity

, Ph.D. Dissertation Sharif University of Technology Ehsani, Samaneh (Author) ; Parastar Shahri, Hadi (Supervisor) ; Yazdanpanah, Hassan (Co-Supervisor)
    Abstract
The need to measure the authenticity of food has always been an important concern of many countries. Since food fraud can cause serious problems, every year, much research is conducted in the field of food authenticity all over the world. Milk among dairy products and orange juice among fruit juices are two categories of widely consumed beverages all over the world, therefore they are exposed to various frauds from the manufacturers. Frauds such as adding water to milk and preservatives such as hydrogen peroxide, formaldehyde, and sodium hypochlorite are common frauds that are added to milk to increase its volume and storage time. Among the common cases of adulteration in orange juice, we...

    Abstract
A computational approach to predict the main binding modes of two adrenalin derivatives, arachidonoyl adrenalin (AA-AD) and arachidonoyl noradrenalin (AA-NOR) with the β-lactoglubuline (BLG) as a nano-milk protein carrier is presented and assessed by comparison to the UV-Vis absorption spectroscopic data using chemometric analysis. Analysis of the spectral data matrices by using the multivariate curve resolution-alternating least squares (MCR-ALS) algorithm led to the pure concentration calculation and spectral profiles resolution of the chemical constituents and the apparent equilibrium constants computation. The negative values of entropy and enthalpy changes for both compound indicated...

    Abstract
Among High Level Natural Radiation Areas (HLNRAs) all over the world, the northern coastal city of Ramsar has been considered enormously important. Many studies have measured environmental radioactivity in Ramsar, however, no survey has been undertaken to measure concentrations in the diets of residents. This study determined the 226Ra activity concentration in the daily diet of people of Ramsar. The samples were chosen from both normal and high level natural radiation areas and based on the daily consumption patterns of residents. About 150 different samples, which all are local and have the highest consumption, were collected during the four seasons. In these samples, after washing and...

Development of multi-response optimization and quadratic calibration curve for determination of ten pesticides in complex sample matrices using QuEChERS dispersive liquid–liquid microextraction followed by gas chromatography

    , Article Journal of Separation Science ; Volume 42, Issue 23 , 2019 , Pages 3553-3562 ; 16159306 (ISSN) Balsini, P ; Parastar, H ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
In this study, QuEChERS combined with dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction is developed for extraction of ten pesticides in complex sample matrices of water and milk. In this regard, effective factors of proposed extraction technique combined with gas chromatography with flame ionization detector were designed, modeled, and optimized using central composite design, multiple linear regression, and Nelder–Mead simplex optimization. Later, univariate calibration model for ten pesticides was developed in concentration range of 0.5–100 ng/mL. Surprisingly, quadratic calibration behavior was observed for some of the pesticides. In this regard, Mandel's test was used for evaluating linearity...

    Abstract
Background: Data about the global, regional, and country-specific variations in the levels and trends of colorectal cancer are required to understand the impact of this disease and the trends in its burden to help policy makers allocate resources. Here we provide a status report on the incidence, mortality, and disability caused by colorectal cancer in 195 countries and territories between 1990 and 2017. Methods: Vital registration, sample vital registration, verbal autopsy, and cancer registry data were used to generate incidence, death, and disability-adjusted life-year (DALY) estimates of colorectal cancer at the global, regional, and national levels. We also determined the association...
