Abstract
After the emergence of modern technologies in the field of information technologies (IT), virtual learning has attained a new form. The way of announcing exams' grades is an important topic in e-learning. For announcing exams' grades on the web, various methods have been proposed. In this paper, first some common methods for announcing students' grades are reviewed, then three new methods which are named "Virtual Grade", "Steganography Grades", and "Grade HIP" are introduced and the result of implementing these methods for announcing the grades of some courses at the some Iranian universities are provided. Also these methods and their results are analyzed. Finally these three new methods are...
Experimental study of a novel Magneto Mercury Reciprocating (MMR) micropump, fabrication and operation
, Article Sensors and Actuators, A: Physical ; Volume 194 , 2013 , Pages 277-284 ; 09244247 (ISSN) ; Salari, A ; Shafii, M. B ; Sharif University of Technology

Abstract
Today, MEMS have wide applications in modern technologies. Magneto hydro dynamic (MHD) micropumps play an important role in the MEMS industry and have been thoroughly studied in the recent years. In this study, the idea of classic reciprocating micropumps was combined with magneto hydro dynamics (MHD) to develop a novel Magneto Mercury Reciprocating (MMR) micropump. To attain this goal, the Lorentz force, as the actuation mechanism, was used to move a conductive liquid (mercury) slug in a reciprocating manner in order to suck the working fluid (air) from the inlet and pump it to the outlet. The performance of the fabricated MMR micropump was examined in terms of parameters such as pressure...

Abstract
After the emergence of modern technologies in recent years, learning methods have attained a new form. Using game consoles as educational tools is a new idea which is gained attracted by some researchers. This paper proposes a new method for improving English lab classes using Sony PSP (PlayStation Portable) handheld game consoles especially for Iranian schools. © 2008 IEEE
Emancipation From the Current Technological Atmosphere in Andrew Feenberg and Martin Heidegger's Thought
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Hosseini, Hasan (Supervisor) ; Abdolkarimi, Bijan (Co-Advisor)
Abstract
In this dissertation, Martin Heidegger and Andrew Feenberg's views on the current technological atmosphere and their approaches to escaping from this atmosphere will be considered. Critical Theory of Technology is the title that Feenberg refers to it as his own thoughts upshot regarding technology. This title explicitly indicates Feenberg's background in Frankfurt School Critical Theory. In Critical Theory of Technology the problems of the current technological atmosphere are revealed by concerning values in technical designs. Feenberg not only focuses on undesirable consequences of the current technological development, but also considers emancipation from the current technological...
Application of DSM for integrating modern technology into operational architecture of aerial firefighting
, Article 18th International Dependency and Structure Modeling Conference: Sustainability in Modern Project Management, 29 August 2016 through 30 August 2016 ; 2016 , Pages 102-110 ; Mahrooz, M. H ; Sharif University of Technology

Abstract
Aerial firefighting plays an integral role in containing wildfires, which have been growing rapidly in frequency and intensity over the past decades. However, the current aerial-resource management models were developed decades ago, based on the technology available then. This research aims to investigate how and what modern technologies can be integrated into aerial firefighting operation to help it keep up with the worsening situation. DSM has been used as an engineering tool to decompose the complex problem space into separate manageable segments. Using a task-based DSM, the interdependencies which give rise to unnecessary complexities are visualized, and the potential to integrate new...
Standard test systems for modern power system analysis: an overview

Abstract
The reliable design, planning, and operation of power systems are of paramount importance for providing reliable services to customers. This article reviews the different aspects of power system reliability, ranging from planning to operation. Standard benchmarks employed for power system studies are reviewed according to nearly 2,500 IEEE journal papers from 1986 to early 2019. Our overview provides the pros and cons of existing test systems, implying the lack of appropriate benchmarks for future power system studies, including renewable resources and modern technologies. Furthermore, this article presents requirements for updating and modifying the benchmarks for modern power systems...
A multi-bit error tolerant register file for a high reliable embedded processor
, Article 2011 18th IEEE International Conference on Electronics, Circuits, and Systems, ICECS 22011, 11 December 2011 through 14 December 2011 ; December , 2011 , Pages 532-537 ; 9781457718458 (ISBN) ; Hosseini, M ; Vahdat, B. V ; Rashidian, B ; Sharif University of Technology

Abstract
The vulnerability of microprocessors to soft errors is increasing due to continuous shrinking in fabrication process. Recent studies show that 1-5% of the SEUs (single event upset) can cause MBUs (multiple bit upsets). The probability of MBU generation due to SEU is increasing because of the reduction in minimum energy required to flip a memory bit in modern technologies. Register file is the most sensitive component in a microprocessor. In this paper, we present an innovative way to protect registers in a 64-bit register file for a RISC processor using extended Hamming (8, 4) code (SEC-DED code) and narrow-width values. A narrow-width value can be represented by half number of bits of the...

Abstract
This paper reviews the merits of modernizing the power grid and discusses the way electric utilities in various countries are directing their practices toward offering enhanced sustainability, reliability, resilience, security, and economics to their respective consumers. The modernization of the electricity grid, which has evolved as the brainchild of electricity restructuring, has been made all the more urgent by the virtually pervasive dependence of modern lives on a reliable, clean, and secure supply of affordable electricity. The electric utility industry restructuring, which has staged many institutional, regulatory, and business models, has enabled the modern electricity grid to take...
Jet into cross flow boundary layer control an innovation in gas turbine blade cooling
, Article 35th AIAA Fluid Dynamics Conference and Exhibit, Toronto, ON, 6 June 2005 through 9 June 2005 ; 2005 ; 9781624100598 (ISBN) ; Taeibi Rahni, M ; Darbandi, M ; Sharif University of Technology

Abstract
New standpoint of turbulent coolant jets into crossflow, which have numerous applications in traditional and modern technology, especially in gas turbine blades, is presented in this work. It is more than half a century that, many researchers have been studying jet into cross flow to understand its behavior and to predict and control it better. Previous studies indicate that, the main attentions had been on: a- geometrical parameters such as: inclined and compound jet angles, hole's shape, jet's array arrangements, jet's spacing, and jet's channel depth, b- flow characteristics like: blowing ratio, density ratio, jet and cross flow Reynolds numbers, and turbulence intensity. Here, we have...
