    Abstract
    A fully integrated multi-band frequency synthesizer for Inphase and Quadrature local oscillator signal generation in Digital Video Broadcasting to Handheld receivers is presented. In the proposed PLL-based integer-N synthesizer, all of the allocated frequencies for DVB tuners, in VHF, UHF and L bands, are generated. Two voltage controlled oscillators cover a frequency range of 1880-3632 MHz by using switched-capacitor banks. The VCO frequency is divided by 2, 4 and 16 to generate the quadrature signals at the synthesizer output.     Abstract
    1-D compound metallic grating (CMG) is a periodic structure with more than one slit in each period. When CMG is combined with a graphene sheet as its cover, the incident light is effectively coupled to the plasmons in graphene which in turn can result in strong manipulation of light for both major polarizations. We show that tunable phase resonance and perfect absorption of the incident light are interesting outcomes of this manipulation. In this paper, we demonstrate that fano-like phase resonances which can be observed in CMGs under transverse magnetic polarized incident wave are tuned by changing the Fermi level of graphene.     In this paper we present a novel approach for adjusting a multi band spectral subtraction filter coefficients based on speech recognition system results. Currently most speech enhancement techniques are designed according to various waveform level criteria such as maximizing SNR or minimizing signal error. However improvement in these criteria does not necessarily result in increasing speech recognition performance.     Abstract
    One of the main issues with data hiding algorithms is capacity of data embedding. Most of data hiding methods suffer from low capacity that could make them inappropriate in certain hiding applications. This paper presents a high capacity data hiding method that uses encryption and the multi-band speech synthesis paradigm. In this method, an encrypted covert message is embedded in the unvoiced bands of the speech signal that leads to a high data hiding capacity of tens of kbps in a typical digital voice file transmission scheme.     This paper presents a harmonic termination technique for single-and multi-band high-efficiency class-F monolithic microwave integrated circuit (MMIC) power amplifiers (PAs). The harmonic termination network (HTN), realized with the minimum possible number of elements, can be used to terminate an arbitrary number of harmonics in a single-band PA or harmonics of multiple frequencies in a concurrent multi-band PA. The drain and gate bias lines are embedded in the HTNs to obviate the need for RF chokes and reduce the chip area.     Abstract
    A method to design a tunable low noise amplifier (LNA) for multiband receivers is proposed. This paper also presents a single-ended to differential conversion (S2DC) topology which improves the LNA linearity without degrading its noise performance. Combining input tuning with S2DC in a single stage reduces power consumption of the LNA and decreases effects of supply noise. An LNA has been designed based on the proposed method for 2.3-4.8 GHz in a 0.18 μm CMOS technology. Simulations show an IIP3 of -3.2 dBm, a less than 3.7 dB noise figure (NF), a voltage gain of 24 dB in the whole frequency range. The LNA draws 13.1 mW from a 1.8 V supply.     Abstract
    This paper addresses a new approach to data hiding that leads to a high data embedding rate of tens of kbps in a typical digital voice file transmission scheme. The purpose of the proposed method is restricted to offline voice transmission that uses stego speech files in wave format. The basic idea of the algorithm is to embed encrypted covert message in the unvoiced bands of spectrum of the cover speech. Inaudibility of the proposed hiding scheme is investigated through both support vector machines (SVM)-based steganalysis and the ITU-T P.862 PESQ standard speech quality assessment.     Abstract
    Monolayer band-reject frequency selective surfaces (FSS) based on curved coupled microstrip line (CCML) resonators are proposed. Each unit cell comprises a single- or multi-loop CCML resonator, featuring single-wideband or multi-band resonance, respectively. Design guidelines for achieving various responses are demonstrated and it is shown there is a great flexibility attaining desired frequency responses versus structural parameters. For instance, it is shown that the entire microwave X-band may be rejected, using a simple single-loop structure.     Multiband absorption is the interest of the microwave communities due to several applications in sensing, filtering, and stealth. Usually, the stacking of metal and dielectric multilayered structures form a multiband absorber which makes the device bulky and costly. In this paper, we investigate a multiband absorber based on a single-layered fractal metasurface for the 5G applications. The unit cell of the fractal metasurface is comprised of six ring-shaped symmetric split-ring resonators (SRRs) connected back-to-back with each other.     Abstract
    Adapting natural phenomena rendering for realtime applications has become a common practice in computer graphics.We propose a GPU-based multi-band method for optimized synthesis of "far from coast" ocean waves using an empirical Fourier domain model. Instead of performing two independent syntheses for low- and high-band frequencies of ocean waves, we perform only low-band synthesis and employ results to reproduce high frequency details of ocean surface by an optimized iterative up-sampling stage. Our experimental results show that this approach greatly improves the performance of original multi-band synthesis while maintaining image quality. © Springer-Verlag 2009

    Fast locking PLL-based wide-band frequency synthesizers used in high performance RF transceivers often require multi-band voltage controlled oscillator (VCO). These types of frequency synthesizers employ both discrete and continuous tuning mechanisms to satisfy wide frequency range and low VCO tuning gain simultaneously.
