    Abstract
Water and energy supply are two of the key issues human beings must address to attain sustainable development. Humidification-dehumidification technology has been proven to be a cost-effective approach to fulfill the freshwater demand. Particular attention has been given to coupling the humidification-dehumidification cycles with refrigeration, power and other desalination technologies with the aim of enhancing the performance of the combined cycle as well as increasing the amount of produced freshwater, cooling effect, power, etc. This paper provides a comprehensive review of the state-of-the-art investigations in terms of humidification-dehumidification technologies and their integration...

Modeling and optimization of an integrated multi-generation solar system with variable heat to power ratio for supplying residential and industrial demands

    , Article Renewable Energy ; Volume 174 , 2021 , Pages 786-798 ; 09601481 (ISSN) Hajialigol, P ; Fathi, A ; Saboohi, Y ; Sharif University of Technology
    Elsevier Ltd  2021
    Abstract
The paper aims to present a supply model to satisfy the required household final energy carriers, freshwater and industrial cooling loads for a deprived area of access that is located in hot and humid climate. To this aim, a multi-generation hybrid solar thermophotovoltaic integrated system with capability of adjusting heat to power ratio dynamically is introduced. Appropriate analytical tools are developed to obtain the optimal capacity of any systems and energy flows subject to the technology and demand constraints, the financial limitation and the constraints defined by the politicians and local government. The demand constraints are identified through the field studies and the comfort...

Proposal and assessment of a new geothermal-based multigeneration system for cooling, heating, power, and hydrogen production, using LNG cold energy recovery

    Abstract
Multigeneration systems (MGSs) driven by renewable sources are proved as cutting-edge technologies for multiple productions purposes to curb greenhouse gas emissions. With this regard, a novel geothermal-based MGS is proposed to produce multiple commodities of cooling, heating, power, and hydrogen, simultaneously, using liquefied natural gas (LNG) as cold energy recovery. The system is composed of an organic Rankine cycle (ORC), an ejector refrigeration cycle (ERC), an LNG power generation system, and a proton exchange membrane (PEM) electrolyzer system. To demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed MGS, energy, exergy, and exergoeconomic analysis are employed as the most effective tools...
