Sol-Gel Preparation and Study of Bio-Composite Scaffold Containing Chitosan-Gelatin/ Nano-Hydroxyapatite for Bone Tissue Engineering

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Amini, Nooshin (Author) ; Mohammadi, Mohammad Reza (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In present work, hydroxyapatite nano-rods are synthesized using a simple sol-gel method with calcium nitrate and potassium dihydrogenphosphate as calcium and phosphorus precursors respectively and ammonia was used for adjusting the pH=9. To obtain rod shape hydroxyapaite powder, multi wall carbon nanotubes were added to the solution, nHA powder was calcinated at 60 and 450 ℃. In second step, chitosan-gelatin/nanoHA solution were prepared by blending chitosan and gelatin in different concentrations with nanoHA powder, then the solution was freeze dried to maintain a composite scaffold. The prepared HA powder and bio-composite scaffold were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), field...

Fabrication of Dental Implant from Ti-6Al-4V With Nanostructured Hydroxyapatite Coating

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Rahnamaee, Yahya (Author) ; Sadrnezhad, Khatiboleslam (Supervisor)
    Abstract
The use of dental implants has grown considerably in recent years in Iran but this piece is the industrial imported parts that are not yet produced in Iran. So the main purpose of this research was to fabricate a dental implant from Ti-6Al-4V alloy by CNC machining techniques. On the other hand, the poor bonding strength of bioactive coatings and low cell growth on the surface of uncoated implants are the common problems in the use of dental implants. So another aim of this study was to investigate the effect of Nanoscale surface topography and nanostructured coatings on the surface modification of titanium implant in order to improve Osseointegration and the bonding strength of bioactive...

    Abstract
In this paper, a mechanism for fabrication of nanostructured hydroxyapatite coating on TiO2 nanotubes is presented. Also, the physical, biological, and nanomechanical properties of the anodized Ti6Al4V alloy consisting TiO2 nanotubes, electrodeposited hydroxyapatite, and the hydroxyapatite/TiO2 nanotubes double layer coating on Ti6Al4V alloy implants are compared. Mean cell viability of the samples being 84.63 % for uncoated plate, 91.53 % for electrodeposited hydroxyapatite, and 94.98 % for hydroxyapatite/TiO2 nanotubes coated sample were in the acceptable range. Merely anodized prototype had the highest biocompatibility of 110 % with respect to the control sample. Bonding strength of...
