    Abstract
An efficient and one-pot procedure is described for the synthesis of a variety of derivatives of 1,2-dihydrobenzo[f]chromen-3-ones and 3,4-dihydrochromen-2-ones under solvent-free conditions via a pseudo-four-component domino reaction of acetic anhydride, aryl aldehydes, glycine-based dithiocarbamates, and phenols/naphthols in the presence of l-proline and H4[Si(W3O10)4].xH2O as green catalysts. All products were made under the green strategy for the synthesis of corresponding products with excellent yields (up to 94%) and diastereoselectivity. © 2021 Taylor & Francis Group, LLC

    Abstract
The efficient synthesis of bridged polycyclic naphthooxazocines 3 via addition of naphthalenols 1 as a bis-nucleophile to N-alkylquinolinium salts 2 is described (Scheme 1 and Table 2). This new approach provides a powerful entry into polycyclic structures containing bicyclic N,O-acetals related to bioactive compounds

Degradation of phenanthrene and anthracene by Nocardia otitidiscaviarum strain TSH1, a moderately thermophilic bacterium

    Abstract
Aims: The metabolism of phenanthrene and anthracene by a moderate thermophilic Nocardia otitidiscaviarum strain TSH1 was examined. Methods and Results: When strain TSH1 was grown in the presence of anthracene, four metabolites were identified as 1,2-dihydroxy-1,2-dihydroanthracene, 3-(2-carboxyvinyl)naphthalene-2-carboxylic acid, 2,3-dihydroxynaphthalene and benzoic acid using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS), reverse phase-high performance liquid chromatography (RP-HPLC) and thin-layer chromatography (TLC). Degradation studies with phenanthrene revealed 2,2′-diphenic acid, phthalic acid, 4-hydroxyphenylacetic acid, o-hydroxyphenylacetic acid, benzoic acid, a phenanthrene...
