A chitosan-polypyrrole magnetic nanocomposite as μ-sorbent for isolation of naproxen

    , Article Analytica Chimica Acta ; Vol. 816 , 2014 , Pages 1-7 ; ISSN: 00032670 Bagheri, H ; Roostaie, A ; Baktash, M. Y ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
An extracting medium based on chitosan-polypyrrole (CS-PPy) magnetic nanocomposite was synthesized by chemical polymerization of pyrrole at the presence of chitosan magnetic nanoparticles (CS-MNPs) for micro-solid phase extraction. In this work, magnetic nanoparticles, the modified CS-MNPs and different types of CS-PPy magnetic nanocomposites were synthesized. Extraction efficiency of the CS-PPy magnetic nanocomposite was compared with the CS-MNPs and Fe3O4 nanoparticles for the determination of naproxen in aqueous samples, via quantification by spectrofluorimetry. The scanning electron microscopy images obtained from all the prepared nanocomposites revealed that the CS-PPy magnetic...

The Nanocomposite Material-based Sorbents for Analysis of Environmental and Biological Samples

, Ph.D. Dissertation Sharif University of Technology Roostaie, Ali (Author) ; Bagheri, Habib (Supervisor)
    Abstract
This thesis contains two major sections. The first section is dealing with the preparation of conductive polymers-based sorbents while the second section is mostly focused on the synthesizing nanocomposites by electrospinning. All the prepared sorbents and nanofibers have been utilized to isolate some organic compounds in environmental and biological samples. Section I:In the first chapter, an unbreakable solid phase microextraction fiber coating based on aniline-silica nanocomposite was electrodeposited on a stainless steel wire. The electropolymerization process was carried out at a constant deposition potential, applied to the corresponding aqueous electrolyte containing aniline and...

Second-order calibration for simultaneous determination of pharmaceuticals in water samples by solid-phase extraction and fast high-performance liquid chromatography with diode array detector

    , Article Chemometrics and Intelligent Laboratory Systems ; Vol. 137, issue , 2014 , pp. 146-154 ; ISSN: 01697439 Akvan, N ; Parastar, H ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
A fast high-performance liquid chromatography-diode array detection (HPLC-DAD) approach combined to solid phase extraction (SPE) as a pre-concentration step is developed for simultaneous determination of five selected pharmaceuticals (carbamazepine, naproxen, diclofenac, gemfibrozil and mefenamic acid) in water samples. The effective factors on the efficiency of SPE procedure are optimized using faced-centered central composite design (FCCD). In addition, multi-response optimization by using Derringer's desirability function is used to find the optimum experimental conditions for extraction of analytes from well and river waters. Due to the complexity of water matrices and the presence of...

Electrospun titania sol-gel-based ceramic composite nanofibers for online micro- solid-phase extraction with high-performance liquid chromatography

    , Article Journal of Separation Science ; Vol. 37, issue. 15 , August , 2014 , pp. 1982-1988 ; ISSN: 16159306 Bagher, H ; Piri-Moghadam, H ; Rastegar, S ; Taheri, N ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
Titanium(IV) tetraisopropoxide was employed as a metal oxide sol-gel precursor to prepare ceramic composite nanofibers by the electrospinning system. To facilitate this process and obtain the desired nanofibers with higher aspect ratios and surface area, poly(vinylpyrrolidone) was added to the sol of titania. Four ceramic nanofibers sheets based on titania were prepared while each sheet contained different transition metals such as Fe-Mn, Fe-Ni, Fe-Co, and Fe-Mn-Co-Ni. The scanning electron microscope images showed good homogeneity for all the prepared ceramic composites with a diameter range of 100-250 nm. The sorption efficiency was investigated by a micro-solid-phase extraction setup in...

    Abstract
An efficient and selective drug delivery vehicle for cancer cells can remarkably improve therapeutic approaches. In this study, we focused on the synthesis and characterization of magnetic Ni1−x Cox Fe2 O4 nanoparticles (NPs) coated with two layers of methionine and polyethylene glycol to increase the loading capacity and lower toxicity to serve as an efficient drug car-rier. Ni1−x Cox Fe2 O4 @Methionine@PEG NPs were synthesized by a reflux method then charac-terized by FTIR, XRD, FESEM, TEM, and VSM. Naproxen was used as a model drug and its loading and release in the vehicles were evaluated. The results for loading efficiency showed 1 mg of Ni1−x Cox Fe2 O4 @Methionine@PEG NPs could load...

An imprinted interpenetrating polymer network for microextraction in packed syringe of carbamazepine

    , Article Journal of Chromatography A ; Volume 1491 , 2017 , Pages 1-8 ; 00219673 (ISSN) Asgari, S ; Bagheri, H ; Es haghi, A ; Amini Tabrizi, R ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
An imprinted interpenetrating polymer network (IPN) was synthesized and used as a medium for isolation of carbamazepine from urine samples. The polymer network consisted of a homogeneous polystyrene–sol gel hybrid constructed by in–situ radical polymerization method. In this process, within the sol–gel reaction duration, styrene monomer could penetrate into the reaction mixture and after the polymerization initiation, a monolithic IPN structure was prepared. The scanning electron microscopy (SEM) image and energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDX) are indications of the polystyrene dispersion at nano- to micro-meter level in the sol gel matrix. Eventually, the synthesized IPN was used as a...

Porous eco–friendly fibers for on–line micro solid–phase extraction of nonsteroidal anti–inflammatory drugs from urine and plasma samples

    , Article Journal of Chromatography A ; Volume 1574 , 2018 , Pages 18-26 ; 00219673 (ISSN) Golzari Aqda, T ; Behkami, S ; Bagheri, H ; Sharif University of Technology
    Elsevier B.V  2018
    Abstract
In this study, cellulose acetate (CA) fibers were prepared using different solvent systems in electrospinning. The recorded scanning electron microscopy micrographs indicated that the morphology of the prepared fibers is closely associated with the type of electrospinning solvents. The prepared CA fibers were used as an extractive phase for on–line micro–solid phase extraction (μ-SPE) of nonsteroidal–inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) in biological samples pursued by HPLC–UV determination. Work conducted on this research ascertained that the use of dichloromethane:acetone (3:1, v/v) solvent system in the CA dissolution for electrospinning, leads to the formation of porous ribbon–like fibers and...

Amine modified magnetic polystyrene for extraction of drugs from urine samples

    , Article Journal of Chromatography A ; Volume 1602 , 2019 , Pages 107-116 ; 00219673 (ISSN) Zeinali, S ; Maleki, M ; Bagheri, H ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
Polystyrene is one of the best candidates as the extracting medium due to its high stability in different media and acceptable extraction capability. However, the hydrophobic nature and low wettability of polystyrene limits its application to non–polar analytes. To resolve this limitation, in this project, amine groups were chemically attached to the surface of magnetic polystyrene. The resulting hydrophilic magnetic particles were expected to be capable of extracting both polar and non–polar analytes. Non–steroidal anti–inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) were chosen for testing the applicability of modified magnetic polystyrene according to the importance of their analysis and also their wide...
