A hybrid approach based on locally linear neuro-fuzzy modeling and TOPSIS to determine the quality grade of gas well-drilling projects

    , Article Journal of Petroleum Science and Engineering ; Vol. 114 , 2014 , pp. 99-106 ; ISSN: 09204105 Ahari, R. M ; Niaki, S.T. A ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
Evaluation of a project and its contractors has considerable importance in gas well-drilling projects due to their high investments and worth. In this paper, the quality of some gas well-drilling projects is analyzed in order to evaluate and grade project tasks. A neuro-fuzzy network is utilized to learn the grading process and generate models. To select among these models, a ranking method, namely technique for order of preference by similarity to ideal solution (TOPSIS) is employed. During seven gas well-drilling projects, 77 tasks are studied based on quality practitioners[U+05F3] points of view. After generating the primary models, three indices namely, root mean square error (RMSE),...

Dependency of barrier height and ideality factor on identically produced small Au/p-Si Schottky barrier diodes

    Abstract
Small high-quality Au/p-Si Schottky barrier diodes (SBDs) with extremely low reverse leakage current using wet lithography were produced. Their effective barrier heights (BHs) and ideality factors from currentvoltage (IV) characteristics were measured by a conducting probe atomic force microscope (C-AFM). In spite of identical preparation of the diodes there was a diode-to-diode variation in ideality factor and barrier height parameters. By extrapolating the plots the built-in potential of the Au/p-Si contact was obtained as Vbi=0.5425 V and the barrier height value (ΦB(C-V)) was calculated to be ΦB(C-V)=0.7145 V for Au/p-Si for a typical 100 μm diode diameters. In the present work the...

Improved least squares approaches for differential received signal strength-based localization with unknown transmit power

    Abstract
In this paper we consider the problem of improving unknown node localization by using differential received signal strength (DRSS). Many existing localization approaches, especially those using the least squares methods, either ignore nonlinear constraint among model parameters or utilize them inefficiently. In this paper, we develop four DRSS-based localization methods by utilizing different combinations of covariance and weight matrices. Each method constructs a two-stage procedure. During the first stage, an initial coarse position estimate is obtained. The second stage results the refined localization by accounting for nonlinear dependency among estimator variables. The proper choice...

Harmonic content and relaxation resonant frequency of a modulated laser diode

    Abstract
In this paper, an analysis of the harmonic contents of the optical output power for an in-plane single mode laser diode is performed, and the results are described in detail. In the first step, the absolute value of power for each harmonic is obtained in terms of various laser diode parameters, and the variations of external parameters, such as modulation current, bias current and frequency, are discussed. The analysis is done by direct solution of the rate equations of an arbitrary laser diode for carrier and photon densities. It is known that the optical power has a nonlinear dependence on frequency, and the maximum optical power of each harmonic is attained in its resonance frequency. The...
