Design of Excitation Circuits for Cold Plasma Characterization Chamber

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Vardast, Sajjad (Author) ; Rashidian, Bijan (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Plasma is a quasi-neutral gas consist of charged and neutral particles that manifest collective behavior. Plasma is an ionized gas in which all or a significant portion of its atoms have lost one or more electrons and become a set of positive ions and electrons. Plasma is one of the four primary states of matter. This project intends to generate plasma by a pulsed electric discharge in a gaseous environment. At first, in this project, the proper excitation circuits are collected and compared, then based on the feasibility of production, applicable methods are selected and constructed. The construction steps were such that the selected circuits were first simulated with the appropriate...

NOx Reduction from the Exhaust Gas of Marine Diesel Engines Using Non-Thermal Plasma

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Marizad, Marzieh (Author) ; Borghei, Mehdi (Supervisor) ; Hamzehlouyan, Tayebeh (Supervisor) ; Hajjar, Zeinab (Supervisor) ; Khani, Mohammad Reza (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Environmental regulations with respect to the marine diesel emissions have become stricter during recent years, thereby imposing traffic limitations on Iranian ships preventing them to enter emission control areas. Nitrogen oxides (NOx), as one of most important air pollutants, have adverse impacts on public health and ecosystem, so as the ships are the primary source of NOx internationally, the after-treatment system finds more urge to be developed. In this study, a NOx reduction system using non-thermal plasma technology is studied in order to determine its application and efficiency for NOx removal from the exhaust gas of Iranian marine diesel engines. Meanwhile, important factors were...

    Abstract
Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) represent a very important class of pollutants that causes serious health effects. There is an urgent requirement to establish efficient technologies that can reduce and control VOCs. Non-thermal plasma (NTP) is an emerging technology that can decompose low concentration VOCs. However, the low efficiency and high power cost are major hindrances in its commercialization. In this work, Co–Cu with TiO2 support catalysts are prepared by using the deposition precipitation method and utilized in post-plasma catalysis for the efficient degradation of toluene selected as a model VOC. The synergistic effect of Co–Cu/TiO2 with different Co/Cu molar ratios along with...
