    , Article Journal of Solid State Chemistry ; Volume 223, March , 2014 , Pages 32-37 ; ISSN: 00224596 Bagherzadeh, M ; Ashouri, F ; Dakovic, M ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
A metal-organic framework [Co3(BDC)3(DMF)2(H2O)2] was synthesized and structurally characterized. X-ray single crystal analysis revealed that the framework contains a 2D polymeric chain through coordination of 1,4-benzenedicarboxylic acid linker ligand to cobalt centers. The polymer crystallize in monoclinic P21 /n space group with a=13.989(3) Å, b=9.6728(17) Å, c=16.707(3) Å, and Z=2. The polymer features a framework based on the perfect octahedral Co-O6 secondary building units. The catalytic activities of [Co3(BDC)3(DMF)2(H2O)2]n for olefins oxidation was conducted. The heterogeneous catalyst could be facilely separated from the reaction mixture, and reused three times without significant...

    Abstract
A metal-organic coordination polymer of [Mn3(1,4- benzenedicarboxylate)3(DMF)4] ([Mn3(BDC) 3(DMF)4]n) was synthesized and characterized by IR spectra, elemental analysis (CHN), thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA) and single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. The structure of [Mn 3(BDC)3(DMF)4]n is a 2D-periodic framework based on Mn(II)-terephthalate secondary building units (SBUs). The catalytic oxidation of various olefins was effectively carried out with [Mn 3(BDC)3(DMF)4]n. Moreover, the influence of key reaction parameters, including the solvents, reaction temperatures and nature of oxidant were studied. The optimized conditions were achieved by TBHP as the efficient oxidant in...

Catalytic activity of manganese(III)-oxazoline complexes in urea hydrogen peroxide epoxidation of olefins: The effect of axial ligands

    Abstract
The catalytic activity of two manganese(III)-oxazoline complexes [Mn(phox)2(CH3OH)2]ClO4 and Mn(phox)3 (Hphox = 2-(2′-hydroxylphenyl)oxazoline), was studied in the epoxidation of various olefins. All of epoxidation reactions were carried out in (1:1) mixture of methanol:dichloromethane at room temperature using urea hydrogen peroxide (UHP) as oxidant and imidazole as co-catalyst. The epoxide yields clearly demonstrate the influence of steric and electronic properties of olefins, the catalysts and nitrogenous bases as axial ligand. [Mn(phox)2(CH3OH)2]ClO4 catalyst with low steric properties has higher catalytic activity than Mn(phox)3. The highest epoxide yield (95%) was achieved for indene...

    Abstract
The novel N2O2 unsymmetrical tetradentate Schiff bases complexes are used as catalysts for the selective aerobic oxidation of cyclohexene. In general, conversion percentages decrease with increasing ΔEp and decreasing Eredox 0′. Catalytic activity increases with decrease of the number of electron-donating groups and the catalytic selectivity varies according to the types of substituents in the ligands. The catalytic system described here is an inexpensive method for selective oxidation of olefins, with advantages of high activity, selectivity, re-usability and short reaction times. Analysing GC and redox potential results shows a moderate correlation between selectivity and activity. © 2004...

    Abstract
Activated layered manganese oxides with deposited nano-sized gold or silver were synthesized and characterized by scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction spectrometry, atomic absorption spectroscopy and energy-dispersive X-ray mapping. Here, we report that Au or Ag nanoparticles deposited on layered Mn oxides improve the catalytic activity of the Mn oxides toward the epoxidation of olefins in the presence of H2O2 and NaHCO3

    Abstract
The sole industrial process which currently used for adipic acid production is nitric acid oxidation of either cyclohexanol or cyclohexanol/cyclohexanone mixture. Emission of greenhouse nitrous oxide (N2O) gas from this process strongly contributes to global warming, resulting in acid rain and ozone depletion. Herein, we report a catalytic application of a novel dual task-specific ionic liquid (an ionic liquid with two catalytic functions) for oxidation of cyclohexene to adipic acid using 30% hydrogen peroxide. The catalyst showed desirable activity toward oxidation of cyclohexene and some cyclic olefins to produce their corresponding dicarboxylic acids

    Abstract
Activated clay is an inexpensive substance with massive utilization for removal of unsaturated compounds on an industrial scale. The performance of activated clay in removing such compounds heavily relies on the type of pristine raw clay and acids which are used during the activation process. In this work, olefins removal from aromatic streams is reported by activated clays with two different routes of clay activation. After preliminary tests of four different natural clays, the best clay was selected due to having enhanced swelling index, cation exchange capacity, higher surface area, and better suspension stability, among others. Having activated clay with hydrochloric acid and sulfuric...
