Solution of population balance equations in emulsion polymerization using method of moments

Abstract
In this work, the method of moments is used for solution of population balance equations appearing in modeling of emulsion polymerization (EP). The zero-one model without coagulation effect and the pseudo-bulk model including coagulation effect are investigated as two common approaches for modeling EP processes. The fixed quadrature method is used to close the set of moment equations, and the maximum entropy approach is applied to reconstruct the particle size distribution from a finite number of its moments. Comparing the results with those obtained by the high-precision finite volume technique indicates that, despite the low computational load of the moment method, it has an acceptable...
Implementation of an optimal control strategy for a hydraulic hybrid vehicle using CMAC and RBF networks

Abstract
A control strategy on a hybrid vehicle can be implemented through different methods. In this paper, the Cerebellar Model Articulation Controller (CMAC) and Radial Basis Function (RBF) neural networks were applied to develop an optimal control strategy for a split parallel hydraulic hybrid vehicle. These networks contain a nonlinear mapping, and, also, the fast learning procedure has made them desirable for online control. The RBF network was constructed with the use of the K-mean clustering method, and the CMAC network was investigated for different association factors. Results show that the binary CMAC has better performance over the RBF network. Also, the hybridization of the vehicle...
Enhancement of the tipover stability of mobile manipulators with non-holonomic constraints using an adaptive neuro-fuzzy-based controller
, Article Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers. Part I: Journal of Systems and Control Engineering ; Volume 223, Issue 2 , 2009 , Pages 201-213 ; 09596518 (ISSN) ; Meghdari, A ; Naderi, D ; Eslami, S ; Sharif University of Technology

Abstract
The stability issue of mobile manipulators, particularly when the end-effector and the vehicle have to follow a predefined trajectory (for some special duties like painting a plane or carrying a light load), is a crucial subject and needs special attention. In this paper, by utilizing the manipulator compensation motions, the instantaneous proper configuration for a redundant mobile robot is determined. A fast methodology taking into account the dynamic interaction between the manipulator and the vehicle is proposed for enhancing the tipover stability (i.e. stability against overturning) of the mobile manipulator by employing the soft computing approach including a genetic algorithm, neural...

Abstract
In a wirelessly-powered communication network (WPCN), an energy access point (E-AP) supplies the energy needs of the network nodes through radio frequency wave transmission, and the nodes store their received energy in their batteries for possible data transmission. In this paper, we propose an online control policy for energy transfer from the E-AP to the wireless nodes and for data transfer among the nodes. With our proposed control policy, all data queues of the nodes are stable, while the average energy consumption of the network is shown to be within a bounded gap of the minimum energy required for stabilizing the network. Our proposed policy is designed using a quadratic Lyapunov...

Abstract
Cervical cancer is the second-most-common cause of malignancies in women worldwide, and the oncogenic activity of the human papilloma virus types (HPV) E7 protein has a crucial role in anogenital tumors. In this study, we have designed a therapeutic vaccine based on chitosan nanodelivery systems to deliver HPV-16 E7 DNA vaccine, considered as a tumor specific antigen for immunotherapy of HPV-associated cervical cancer. We have developed a Nano-chitosan (NCS) as a carrier system for intramuscular administration using a recombinant DNA vaccine expressing HPV-16 E7 (NCS-DNA E7 vaccine). NCS were characterized in vitro for their gene transfection ability. Results: The transfection of CS-pEGFP...
