Energy Conservation in The Gas Turbines of National Iranian Oil Company Considering Local Operational Conditions

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Firouzmand, Vahid (Author) ; Sattari, Sourena (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Low effiencies of equipments and lack of forecasting heat integration in some oil regions are the reasons of primary energy losses in these regions. Also there have been difficulties in providing electric power demands in regions separate from the state electricity network which is a barrier in front of exploiting all the potentials of the region. This research introduces a model that can lead to selection of optimal configuration of equipments and units in order to establish a CCHP system that answers variable electric, heating and cooling demands ensuring a safe margin of power generation. The model simultaneously has the ability to select between existing and new installable equipments....

Model for optimizing energy efficiency through controlling speed and gear ratio

    , Article Energy Efficiency ; Volume 1, Issue 1 , 2008 , Pages 65-76 ; 1570646X (ISSN) Saboohi, Y ; Farzaneh, H ; Sharif University of Technology
    2008
    Abstract
Specific fuel consumption of vehicles has been improved through technical changes in the last three decades. There has been little study of the impact of behavioral aspects on the specific fuel consumption of vehicles. Analytical tools developed recently have included options for quantifying the specific fuel consumption in certain predefined driving cycles. Empirical studies have shown that real driving cycles are different from predefined ones. It has also been observed that optimal coordination of both speed of vehicle and gear ratio are detrimental to the improved performance of a vehicle. Previous studies have only considered the vehicle speed as the explanatory parameter, and gear...

Developing of Flow in Porous and Semi-Porous Channels with Different Interface Boundary Conditions

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Biranvand, Saeed (Author) ; Nouri Borujerdi, Ali (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In this study we solve the porous and semi-porous flow in the entrance region in a channel filled with porous material or partially filled with it. We present a semi-analytical method for solving the momentum equation in porous and semi-porous channel and pipes at the development and fully developed regions in order to acquire the entrance length and velocity profile and its dependence to the interface boundary conditions between the porous and fluid flow. For solving the equations of entrance region we utilize the definition of boundary layer and use integral solution. Subliminally we find the thickness of boundary layer at the walls and interface of regions in the porous layer. For fully...

The Optimal Model of Energy and Exergy Flow for Evaluating Technology Changes in Oil Refinery (Case Study: North Tehran Oil Refinery)

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Hosseinnezhad, Ahmad (Author) ; Saboohi, Yadollah (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In this project, a comprehensive model is developed for energy and exergy analysis in refineries. By studying Tehran’s North Refinery unit as a case study, the Reference Energy System as the conceptual model of the thesis and also Energy & Exergy Balance table is prepared. Through the exergy balance table, the Exergy efficiency defined. These factors help to settle priority for efficiency improvement investment. Then, the economic and technical relations and costraints are formulized using linear programming model. In this model, the CO2 emission and exergy destruction costs are intended. Using Energy System Model (ESM) software, the thesis model is advanced as RESM stands for Refinery...

Model for developing an eco-driving strategy of a passenger vehicle based on the least fuel consumption

    , Article Applied Energy ; Volume 86, Issue 10 , 2009 , Pages 1925-1932 ; 03062619 (ISSN) Saboohi, Y ; Farzaneh, H ; Sharif University of Technology
    Elsevier Ltd  2009
    Abstract
Additional consumption of fuel in an intense traffic condition is inevitable. Excess fuel consumption may be avoided, if an optimal driving strategy is implemented subject to the surrounding condition of a vehicle and existing constraints. Development of an optimal driving strategy has been the subject of eco-driving. A model of optimal driving strategy has been developed and it has been applied for assessment of eco-driving rules. The model may be categorized as an optimal control and the objective function is minimization of fuel consumption in a given route. Vehicle speed and gear ratio are identified as control variables. The effect of working load has been considered according three...

Software of passenger vehicle optimal work and energy recovery (POWER)

    , Article 12th International Conference on Urban Transport and the Environment in the 21st Century, URBAN TRANSPORT 2006, UT06, Prague, 12 July 2006 through 14 July 2006 ; Volume 89 , 2006 , Pages 691-699 ; 17433509 (ISSN); 1845641795 (ISBN); 9781845641795 (ISBN) Farzaneh, H ; Saboohi, Y ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
In our investigation, the model of optimal energy flow in a passenger vehicle has been founded on the theory of firm microeconomics. Based on this theory, the car owner tries to minimize the total cost of the system (including the cost of time of the traveller) subject to the satisfaction of the required transport services and technological, economical, environmental and institutional constraints. The aforementioned model has been developed using a technique of mathematical programming. The model depicts the behaviour of a nonlinear system and it includes many nonlinear functions in the objective function and in the constraints. Solving the large nonlinear set of constraints and identifying...
