Outpatient appointment scheduling problems have recently gained increasing attention. This paper provides a comprehensive review of recent analytical and numerical optimization studies that present decision-support tools for designing and planning outpatient appointment systems (OASs). A structure for organizing the recent literature according to various criteria is provided, including a framework that classifies decisions at the strategic, tactical, and operational levels. The OAS literature is evaluated from four perspectives: problem settings, environmental factors, modeling approaches, and solution methods. In addition, research gaps and areas of opportunity for future research are...
Numerical optimization and manufacturing of the impeller of a centrifugal compressor by variation of splitter blades, Article ASME Turbo Expo 2016, Turbomachinery Technical Conference and Exposition, 13 June 2016 through 17 June 2016 ; Volume 8 , 2016 ; 9780791849866 (ISBN) ; Hajilouy Benisi, A ; Durali, M ; International Gas Turbine Institute ; Sharif University of Technology

Design and optimization of centrifugal compressors, based on main blades configuration of impeller have been vastly discussed in open literature, but less researches have addressed splitters. In this research, the impeller of a commercial turbocharger compressor is investigated. Here, profiles of main blades are not changed while the effect of changing the configuration of splitters is studied. An optimization study is performed to find the best configuration using genetic algorithm over a complete operating curve of the compressor. CFD codes with experimental support are used to predict the compressor performance. Quantumetric tests beside destructive analysis of two impellers are...
An optimization study of a palm oil-based regional bio-energy supply chain under carbon pricing and trading policies, Article Clean Technologies and Environmental Policy ; Volume 20, Issue 1 , 2018 , Pages 113-125 ; 1618954X (ISSN) ; Ahmad, R ; Abdul Rahim, A. Biomass residues due to their low bulk density typically require frequent transportation from biomass plantations in rural areas to conversion bio-energy power plants. This issue contrasts with environmental protection strategies, especially when power plants are facing different carbon reduction policies that enforce them to emit less than a given specific carbon amount. Although several researchers have investigated bio-energy supply chains concerning environmental policies, the majority of studies have been devoted to strategic decisions over a single planning period. This paper presents a multi-period bio-energy supply chain under carbon pricing (carbon tax) and carbon trading...

Statistically based experimental designs were applied to screen and optimize the bioleaching of spent hydrocracking catalyst by Penicillium simplicissimum. Eleven factors were examined for their significance on bioleaching using a Plackett-Burman factorial design. Four significant variables (pulp density, sucrose, NaNO3, and yeast extract concentrations) were selected for the optimization studies. The combined effect of these variables on metal bioleaching was studied using a central composite design (CCD). Second-order polynomials were established to identify the relationship between the recovery percent of the metals and the four significant variables. The optimal values of the variables...
