    Abstract
    This paper proposes a new approach for solving generation scheduling and ramp rate constrained unit commitment with considering spinning reserve probability. In order to simulate the probability of reserve in the formulation, the estimated probability that spinning reserve is called and generated has been considered. A hybrid heuristic method between genetic algorithm and lambdad iteration method is applied to solve the problem.     The integration of various energy supplying systems increases the energy efficiency and energy system reliability. Smart microgrids are an ideal area to use multi-carrier energy systems. In this context, this study presents a novel modelling framework for optimal day-ahead scheduling of a networked multi-carrier energy microgrid (NMCEMG) system. The NMCEMG system in this study is composed of heat, gas, and power supply networks.     While IEEE 802.16 standardizes the PHY and MAC layers of Wireless Metropolitan Area Networks (MAN), optimal scheduling which is crucial in providing QoS, remains to be an open issue. In this paper, we propose an optimization based uplink scheduling algorithm which aims at maximizing the throughput while guaranteeing the negotiated QoS parameters for all connections. Unlike typical strict priority schedulers the proposed scheduler is able to satisfy the requirements of higher priority connections while not letting the lower priority connections to be neglected.     Abstract
    In this paper, a novel fast straightforward method for thermal generating units scheduling is presented. The new method decomposes the solution of the unit commitment (UC) problem into three subproblems. In the first subproblem, the quadratic cost functions of units are linearized and hourly optimum solution of UC is obtained considering all constraints except the minimum up/down time constraints. In the second subproblem, the minimum up/down times are enforced through a novel optimization process by modifying the schedule obtained in the first step.     In this research, a permutation flowshop sequence-dependent group scheduling problem with minimisation of total completion time is considered. Since the problem is shown to be strongly NP-hard, a hybrid genetic (HG) algorithm is proposed. The only available lower bounding (LB) method for the proposed research problem in the literature based on branch and price (B&P) algorithm is also enhanced by proposing efficient method to solve sub-problems and proposing a better branching rule.     Energy harvesting has been developed as an effective technology for communication systems in order to extend their lifetime. In this paper, we consider a single-user energy harvesting wireless communication system, in which arrival data and harvested energy curves are modeled as continuous functions. Our first goal is to find an offline algorithm, which maximizes the amount of data, which is transmitted to the receiver node by a given deadline.
