Improvement of palm oil and sunflower oil blends by enzymatic interestrification
, Article International Journal of Food Science and Technology ; Volume 46, Issue 5 , 2011 , Pages 1093-1099 ; 09505423 (ISSN) ; Alemzadeh, I ; Sharif University of Technology
Abstract
Palm oil (PO) and sunflower oil (SFO) blends with varying proportions were subjected to enzymatic interesterification (EIE) using a 1,3-specific immobilised lipase. The interesterified blends were evaluated for their slip melting point (SMP), solid fat content (SFC) at 10-40°C, p-anisidine value, peroxide value, free fatty acids (FFA), induction period of oxidation at 110°C (IP110) and composition of fatty acids by gas chromatography. Under EIE treatment, the blends of PO and SFO in different proportions (20:80, 40:60, 50:50, 60:40 and 80:20) had saturated and unsaturated fatty acid content in the range of 37.6-52.0% and 48.0-62.4%, respectively. The blends showed a considerable reduction in...
Improvement of non-aqueous colloidal gas aphron-based drilling fluids properties: role of hydrophobic nanoparticles
, Article Journal of Natural Gas Science and Engineering ; Volume 42 , 2017 , Pages 1-12 ; 18755100 (ISSN) ; Ghazanfari, M. H ; Sharif University of Technology
Abstract
Application of the colloidal gas aphrons (CGAs) in minimizing formation damage by plugging pore mechanism is now wildly accepted due to numerous successful field experience. One of the pivotal factors which affects the pore blockage ability of micro-bubbles is their stability. This experimental study tries to investigate the possible synergistic effect of nanoparticles on improving the stability and other properties of non-aqueous CGA drilling fluids, in both bulk and porous media. In particular, two types of hydrophobic nanoparticles including silicon dioxide nanopowder coated with 2 wt% Silane and nanoclay, in presence of a treated version of bentonite (Bentone 34) as a stabilizer and...

Abstract
Inverted organometal halide perovskite solar cells of p-i-n architecture allow for the employment of inorganic components that ensure longer time stability than organic charge transporters. This has been demonstrated in the present work where devices were made by employing NiO/GO and Li-modified GO/TiOx as hole and electron transporters, respectively, in comparison with popular organic components, such as PEDOT:PSS and PCBM. Cells made in the FTO/PEDOT:PSS/Perovskite/PCBM/Al composition were 25% more efficient than cells made in the FTO/NiO/GO/Perovskite/GO-Li/TiOx/Al composition but the latter was markedly more stable than the former. Emphasis has been presently given to the...

Abstract
LiNi0.8Co0.1Mn0.1O2 (NCM811) has been considered as a promising cathode for Li-ion batteries (LIBs) due to its high electrochemical capacity and low cost; however, poor cycling stability is one of the main restricting factors in industrial applications of the NCM811 cathode material. Notably, the capacity fading and low structural stability of NCM811 are intensified at elevated temperatures. ZrO2- and composite rGO-ZrO2-coated NCM811 were fabricated by a facile wet chemical method and evaluated at 25 and 55 °C to overcome these impediments. The ZrO2 coating provides superior cycling and thermal stability and perfectly protects the cathode active material from deleterious side reactions, and...

Abstract
A single‐cylinder marine diesel engine was modified to be operated in reactivity controlled compression ignition (RCCI) combustion mode. The engine fueling system was upgraded to a common rail fuel injection system. Natural gas (NG) was used as port fuel injection, and a die-sel/sunflower methyl ester biodiesel mixture was used for direct fuel injection. The fraction of bio-diesel in the direct fuel injection was changed from 0% (B0; 0% biodiesel and 100% diesel) to 5% (B5) and 20% (B20) while keeping the total energy input into the engine constant. The objective was to understand the impacts of the increased biodiesel fraction on the combustion characteristics and stability, emissions, and...
