    Abstract
    Since space diversity and frequency diversity are both efficient techniques in the radar applications, we propose in this paper a method for simultaneous usage of both techniques. On this basis, multi-frequency array radar in which all frequencies are used simultaneously to increase the number of targets that can be uniquely identified, is introduced and analyzed. First, the signal model for such a system is derived and then, it is shown how the use of multi-frequency signal can noticeably improve the parameter identifiability.     Abstract
    A simple optimization methodology is applied to estimate the intrinsic kinetic parameters for both reversible and irreversible unireactant immobilized enzyme systems that follow the Michaelis-Menten mechanism. The method utilizes a direct-search optimization algorithm along with the numerical solution of the governing differential equations. The usefulness and validity of the method is demonstrated by comparing the predicted values of the intrinsic kinetic constants using the proposed method with a series of experimental values reported in the literature for different immobilized enzyme systems with irreversible and reversible reactions

    Abstract
    In this paper, an attractive and novel algorithm for improving irreducible model identification of continuous time(CT) MIMO systems has been presented. The algorithm is based on least - squares (LS) estimates of Markov parameters (MP) using input output data and residual whitening. By choosing a linear-in-parameters model structure, the estimation becomes linear and asymptotically robust to zero-mean additive disturbances. CT Markov parameters may result in diverging approximations even for stable systems.     The effect of complexity level of a lumped kinetic model for heavy residue hydroconversion on estimated values of kinetic parameters was investigated in this work by imposing constraints for the parameter estimation algorithm of a complex six-lump kinetic model and deriving a simpler modified model from the complex model.     Abstract
    In the present study, an electro-thermo-mechanical model is utilized to predict electrical potential, temperature and residual stress distributions during different stages of resistance spot welding. In order to improve accuracy, material properties including physical, thermal and mechanical properties supposed to be temperature-dependent. The employed model is capable of considering the effects of welding parameters such as heat input and welding time on residual stress distribution.     The effects of various process parameters on caustic current efficiency (CCE) in a zero-gap oxygen-depolarized chlor-alkali cell employing a state-of-the-art silver plated nickel screen electrode (ESNS®) were studied. For doing a thorough research, we selected the process parameters from both cathodic and anodic compartments. Seven process parameters were studied including anolyte pH, temperature, flow rate and brine concentration from the anode side, oxygen temperature and flow rate from the cathode side and the applied current density.     Understanding the potential and electric field distribution in the insulation system of a transformer during transients is vital to its construction. Therefore, we have developed a method for electric field analysis inside a power transformer.     Abstract
    In this research, theory of fuzzy sets is used to deal with the uncertain nature of soil parameters and the inaccuracy involved in the analysis simultaneously. Soil parameters are defined using suitable fuzzy sets and the uncertainty inherent in the value of factor of safety is assessed. It is believed that this approach accounts for the uncertainty in soil parameters more realistically compared to the conventional probabilistic approaches reported in the literature.     Effect of different conditions on shear behaviour of rock has been investigated by various researchers. As known, in larger scale the continuity of the rock material is interrupted by separated planes such as bedding planes, faults, shear zones, closure and the behaviour converts to be inelastic and anisotropic.     This paper presents a new speech enhancement system that works in wavelet domain. The core of system is an improved WaveShrink module. First, different parameters of WaveShrink are studied; then, based on the features of speech signal, an improved wavelet-based speech enhancement system is proposed. The system uses a novel thresholding algorithm, and introduces a new method for threshold selection.     In this study, the traffic parameters were collected from three work zones in Iran in order to evaluate the queue length in the work zones. The work zones were observed at peak and non-peak hours. The results showed that abrupt changes in Freeway Free Speed (FFS) and arrival flow rate caused shockwaves and created a bot-tleneck in that section of the freeway. In addition, accel-eration reduction, abrupt change in the shockwave speed, abrupt change in the arrival flow rate and increase in the percentage of heavy vehicles have led to extreme queue lengths and delay.
