    Abstract
Emergence of high pseudo-magnetic field as a result of mechanical deformations is one of the intriguing characteristics of the graphene honeycomb structure. For a time-dependent nonuniform strain and in the context of Berry curvature approach, the topological charge pumping is studied theoretically. Calculations have been performed in time–momentum parametric space. Within the Berry curvature approach, it has been revealed that time-dependent deformations result in nonzero valley-dependent charge pumping in the gapped graphene when there is a population imbalance between the valleys. This indicates that the valley polarization can be measured by the amount of topological charge pumping in...

BIBO stability of fractional delay systems in the parametric space of delays

    , Article International Conference on Control, Automation and Systems ; 2011 , Pages 1841-1845 ; 15987833 (ISSN) ; 9781457708350 (ISBN) Mesbahi, A ; Haeri, M ; Nasiri, H. R ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
In this work, a novel method is proposed to study the BIBO stability of a fractional delay system. The characteristic equation of a fractional delay system with some transcendental terms has infinitely many roots. Applying D-subdivision method and the Rekasius substitution divide one-dimensional parametric space of the time delay to infinite intervals with finite unstable roots. The number of unstable roots in each interval is calculated with the definition of root tendency on the boundary of each interval. Two illustrative examples are presented to confirm the proposed method results

Video keyframe analysis using a segment-based statistical metric in a visually sensitive parametric space

    , Article IEEE Transactions on Image Processing ; Volume 20, Issue 10 , Oct , 2011 , Pages 2730-2737 ; 10577149 (ISSN) Omidyeganeh, M ; Ghaemmaghami, S ; Shirmohammadi, S ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
This paper addresses a new approach to the keyframe extraction problem employing generalized Gaussian density (GGD) parameters of wavelet transform subbands along with Kullback-Leibler distance (KLD) measurement. Shot and cluster boundaries are selected using KLDs between GGD feature vectors, and then keyframes are located based on similarity and dissimilarity criteria. Objective and subjective evaluations show the high accuracy of this new approach compared with traditional methods

On the chaotic vibrations of electrostatically actuated arch micro/nano resonators: a parametric study

    Abstract
Motivated by specific applications, electrostatically actuated bistable arch shaped micro-nano resonators have attracted growing attention in the research community in recent years. Nevertheless, some issues relating to their nonlinear dynamics, including the possibility of chaos, are still not well known. In this paper, we investigate the chaotic vibrations of a bistable resonator comprised of a double clamped initially curved microbeam under combined harmonic AC and static DC distributed electrostatic actuation. A reduced order equation obtained by the application of the Galerkin method to the nonlinear partial differential equation of motion, given in the framework of Euler-Bernoulli beam...

    Abstract
This paper presents an event based scheme for uncompressed video watermarking. The video signal is assumed to be a sequence of overlapping visual components - called events. We address this overlapping structure of video contents and present an event based approach through employing a block based Temporal Decomposition (TD) scheme. The TD describes a set of spectral parameters of the video as a linear combination of a set of temporally overlapping compact event functions. We have applied the decomposition results to digital video watermarking. To construct the matrix of parameters in the TD, Multiresolution Singular Value Decomposition (MR-SVD) is utilized and singular values of a set of...
