    Abstract
In this paper, three metal-organic frameworks (Materials of Institut Lavoisier: MILs-100 (Fe)) as porous nanomaterials were synthesized using FeCl3, Fe(NO3)3 and Fe2(SO4)3 and denoted as MIL-100-1, MIL-100-2 and MIL-100-3, respectively. The synthesized MILs-100 (Fe) were characterized by FTIR, SEM, TEM, XRD, UV–vis DRS and zeta potential. Basic Blue 41 (BB41) was used as a model dye to study the photocatalytic dye degradation ability of the synthesized metal organic frameworks. The results showed that the synthesized nanomaterials decolorized BB41. The decolorization kinetics followed first-order kinetic model. The rate constant was 0.0034, 0.0041, 0.0091 and 0.0289 (1/min) for 0.01, 0.02,...

    Abstract
The photocatalytic decolorization of aqueous solutions of Direct Red 27 in the presence of various amounts of semiconductor powder suspensions has been investigated in a batch reactor with the use of artificial light sources. ZnO and TiO2 have been found the most active photocatalysts; the effect of catalyst loading and type on the reaction rate was optimized for maximum degradation. The results imply that 1:1 ratio is proper for the photocatalytic removal of Direct Red 27. In addition, the effects of particle size and surface area were examined in this photocatalytic process. The results showed that the decolorization efficiency increases with increase in surface area, and decrease in...

Photocatalytic degradation of methylene blue by TiO2-capped ZnO nanoparticles

    Abstract
ZnO nanoparticles were fabricated via hydrothermal method and an amorphous TiO2 layer was then coated on the nanoparticles via sol-gel route. X-ray diffraction (XRD) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) studies showed that the synthesized ZnO nanoparticles were hexagonal with wurtzite structure and an average particle size of 38 nm. The thickness of the titanium oxide layer was determined to be 20-40 nm. The photocatalytic decolorization of Methylene blue under UV irradiation indicated that as-prepared TiO 2-capped ZnO is inferior than ZnO particles. Nevertheless, calcinations of the particles at 350 °C for 24 h significantly improved the photo-activity of the ZnO/TiO2 core/shell...
