Proposing a Framework for IT Strategic Planning in Iranian Public Universities

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Ghaffari, Reza (Author) ; Kermanshah, Ali (Supervisor) ; Isaai, Mohammad Taghi (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Information Technology Strategic Planning (ITSP) is performing strategic planning in Information Technology in alignment with overall goals' of organizations. An ITSP framework is consisted of stages, instructions, and models that should be used during an ITSP project. In this research an appropriate framework for public universities which are under supervision of Ministry of Science, Research and Technology of Iran, is proposed –and not selected nor presented. Process, models, methodology and altogether framework of ITSP projects (in case of out-sourcing or doing in-house), have a vital role in the success of project. Therfore, Iranian public universities and also other educational and...

Expansion planning studies of independent-locally operated battery energy storage systems (BESSs): A CVaR-Based study

    Abstract
Nowadays, the high penetration of renewable energy resources, with variable and unpredictable nature, poses major challenges to operation and planning studies of power systems. Employing energy storage systems (ESSs) has been introduced as an effective solution to alleviate these challenges. Several studies have been presented in the literature to provide a framework for expansion planning studies of ESSs. However, they usually have two main drawbacks: i) ignoring the positive effect of independent-locally operated ESSs on the bulk power system preferences, ii) inability to model the charge/discharge schedule of independent-locally operated ESSs based on their investors' acceptable risk...

Bi-level planning of distributed energy resources into existing transmission grids: Pathway to sustainable energy systems

    Abstract
This paper presents a novel stochastic planning framework for the integration of renewable distributed energy resources (DERs) into existing power systems without relying on new investments in the transmission networks. The upper-level problem of the proposed model aims at minimizing the total expected social cost of supplying demand that includes the expected cost of getting energy from conventional generating units and DERs, the congestion cost of transmission networks, and the greenhouse gas (GHG) emission cost, while each of the privately invested DER satisfies a specified rate of return. The lower-level problem clears the electricity market to find locational marginal prices (LMPs) and...

    Abstract
In this paper, Analytic Hierarchy Process and Data Envelopment Analysis are introduced as multi attribute decision making techniques in planning of standalone micro-power systems. The objective of the planning framework is to select the best configuration and capacity of different generating technologies in micro-power systems to minimize certain economical and environmental attributes. The economical attributes are capital cost and net present cost and the environmental attribute is emission. The proposed framework is illustrated by a case study on a real network in northern region of Iran
