    Abstract
Silicon oxycarbide (SiOC) materials derived from silicone attracted great attention for their superior high-temperature behavior. In the present study, Si (Ti)OC and Si (Ti,Al)OC nanocomposites, in which alkoxide precursors were used with the main silicone precursor, have been compared with SiOC material. Although in SiOC, C was bonded with Si in a carbon-rich SiOC phase, X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) showed that TiC was the preferred state for C atoms upon adding Ti into the system. This claim was also substantiated by Raman spectroscopy, where adding Ti into the system lowered the intensity of the D band, indicating the high affinity of C to...

    Abstract
As an alternative to conventional fertilizers, e.g. NPK (the Nitrogen-Phosphorous-Potassium-containing chemical fertilizers) which release their nutrients in a short time glass fertilizers are ideal as they release macro-and micronutrients for crops and plant nourishment more gradually. Also, despite conventional ones, they have no ground-water pollution. In the present study, glass fertilizers were synthesized via polymer-derived ceramics (PDC) method. Despite the melt-casting procedure, PDC needs lower temperatures in heat treatment. The precursors consist of poly-siloxane and active fillers. Thus, thanks to gaseous release during heat treatment of the present active fillers, i.e. Ca(OH)2,...

Synthesis And Preparation of SiBNC Nanofibers

    Abstract
Amorphous SiBNC ceramics have been developed as new high temperature materials. They show a high resistance against crystallization, high mechanical properties, low density, and high oxidation stability. Three synthesis methods have been developed for synthesis of SiBNC ceramics namely, Reactive magnetron sputtering, Mechanical alloying plus sintering, and polymer-derived ceramics. In this research among polymeric methods one pot synthesis due to high ceramic yield and high mechanical properties have been chosen. Two major methods for nanofiber preparation are Meltspinning and Electrospinng. It is notable that all of researches for SiBNC Nanofiber preparation has been conducted on...

    Abstract
In the bone tissue engineering field (BTE), it is of significant importance to develop bioactive multifunctional scaffolds with enhanced osteoconductivity, osteoinductivity, and antibacterial properties required for lost bone tissue regeneration. In this work, a bioactive glass-ceramic scaffold was manufactured via a novel polymer-derived ceramics (PDC) manufacturing method. To gain antibacterial properties, the silver ions were incorporated in controlled amount along with other precursors in the PDC processing stage. Microstructural and structural properties of the fabricated silicate-phosphate glass-ceramic scaffold were evaluated by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) equipped with energy...

    Abstract
SiBNC nanofibers were synthesized through the polymeric route by a one-pot synthesis approach. DMTA (dichloroboryl methyl trichlorosilyl amine) polymer was selected as pre-ceramic for SiBNC, which was shaped into nanofibers by electrospinning. Then, the nanofibers were cured in an inert atmosphere in order to obtain the final ceramic. By changing the curing atmosphere, the compound of final ceramic has been manipulated. In addition, the ceramic yield of DMTA as a preceramic was increased in the nitrogen atmosphere. The effects of applied voltage, solution concentration, and feeding rate on the morphology of final electrospun ceramic nanofibers were also investigated. Final ceramic remains...

Synthesis of SiOC/Al2O3 nano/macro composites through PDC method; investigation of potentials as layers of a packed bed reactor membrane

    Abstract
Thanks to a wide range of pore sizes by nano/macro composites of SiOC/Al2O3, such composites can serve as different layers of the structure of Packed Bed Reactor Membranes (PBRM). In the present study, the Polymer-Derived Ceramics method (PDC) has been used to synthesize nano/macro structures. Firstly, the effect of toluene as an extra carbon source on structure and microstructure of SiOC glass-ceramics was evaluated, such that, 4% (Vol) toluene was recognized as the proper amount to facilitate the synthesis of β-SiC at 1300 °C proved by XRD, Raman spectroscopy, and HR-TEM. Moreover, the presence of micro/meso-porosities was assessed by BET and TEM, indicating the capability of SiOC to serve...

The fabrication and characterization of bioactive Akermanite/Octacalcium phosphate glass-ceramic scaffolds produced via PDC method

    Abstract
In the present study, a bioactive silicate-phosphate glass-ceramic scaffold was fabricated via the polymer-derived ceramics (PDC) method. K2HPO4 phosphate salt was used as the P2O5 precursor in this method. The effect of K2HPO4 wt% and heat treatment temperatures (900–1100 °C) was evaluated. It was observed that although increasing the wt% of K2HPO4 led to the formation of scaffolds with higher densities and strengths, it could also increase the formation of the calcium phase, which could result in improper release behavior of scaffolds. On the other hand, higher heat treatment temperatures enhanced the strength of the scaffolds but eliminated the bioactive octacalcium phosphate (OCP) phase....
