    , Article Phosphorus, Sulfur and Silicon and the Related Elements ; Vol. 189, issue. 12 , 2014 , pp. 1794-1801 ; ISSN: 10426507 Pourjavadi, A ; Hosseini, S. H ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
Poly(amidoamine) dendrimer (PAMAM) was successfully functionalized by chlorosulfonic acid to form an strong ionic acid catalyst. The resulting polymeric catalyst was shown to be an efficient catalyst for the synthesis of 1,1-diacetyl from aldehydes under free solvent conditions at room temperature. Also, the deprotection of the resulting aldehydes was investigated under catalytic conditions. The Hammett acidity function of catalyst showed that catalyst is a strong Brønsted acid. Due to the multi-functional nature of PAMAM, the catalyst has high loading level of acidic protons

    Abstract
A heterogeneous polymeric catalyst was synthesized by immobilization of copper ions in a graphene oxide/poly(vinyl imidazole) nanocomposite. This catalyst has proven to be highly active in a practical protocol for click synthesis of 1,2,3-triazole via one-pot three-component cycloaddition of halides, terminal alkynes and sodium azide. The reaction was carried out in water medium and good to excellent yields of products were obtained using only 1.0 mol% of catalyst. The catalyst can be readily recovered and reused eight times under the described reaction conditions without significant loss of activity. The reaction also proceeded well with only 0.002 mol% of catalyst, which shows the high...

    Abstract
A heterogeneous magnetic copper catalyst was prepared via anchoring of copper sulfate onto multi-layered poly(2-dimethylaminoethyl acrylamide)-coated magnetic nanoparticles and was characterized using various techniques. The catalyst was found to be active, effective and selective for one-pot three-component reaction of alkyl halide, sodium azide and alkyne, known as copper-catalyzed click synthesis of 1,2,3-triazoles. As little as 0.3 mol% of catalyst was found to be effective under the optimum conditions. The catalyst could also be recycled and reused up to seven times without significant loss of activity. Thermal stability, high loading level of copper on catalyst, broad diversity of...

Kinetic and morphological investigation on the magnesium ethoxide-based ziegler-natta catalyst for propylene polymerization using typical external donors

    , Article Macromolecular Symposia ; Volume 285, Issue 1 , 2009 , Pages 52-57 ; 10221360 (ISSN) Dashti, A ; Ramezani Saadat Abadi, A ; Hiraoka, Y ; Kim, S. Y ; Taniike, T ; Terano, M ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
Kinetic and morphological aspects of slurry propylene polymerization using a MgCl2-supported Ziegler-Natta catalyst synthesized from a Mg(OEt)2 precursor in the presence and absence of two different external donors are investigated. The kinetic profiles show similar trend in presence and absence of donors. The Mg(OEt)2-based catalyst show a mild activation and a long-standing activity with good replication of the catalyst particles. The results show that synthesized Mg(OEt)2-based Ziegler-Natta catalyst presents a highly stable polymerization activity and good replication due to the uniform Ti distribution all over the catalyst particles. © 2009 WILEY-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. Abstract
Thermal degradation behavior of multi-wall carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs)/ultra high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) nanocomposites, with different nanotubes contents (0.5, 1.5 and 3.5 wt%) prepared via in-situ polymerization technique have been investigated using thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA). TGA spectra revealed that these nanocomposites had enhanced thermal stability and no significant mass loss (<0.4 wt%) occurred up to 350°C. Thermal degradation of these UHMWPE/MWCNT nanocomposites was investigated in terms of parameters such as the onset temperature of degradation (T 10), the decomposition temperature at 50% wt loss (T 50), the degradation temperature of maximum rate of the...

    Abstract
Prediction of reaction yield as the most important characteristic process of a slurry polymerization industrial process of propylene has been carried out. Stacked neural network as an effective method for modeling of inherently complex and nonlinear systems-espe-cially a system with a limited number of experimental data points-was chosen for yield prediction. Also, effect of operational parameters on propylene polymerization yield was modeled by the use of this method. The catalyst system was Mg(OEt)2/DIBP/TiCl 4/PTES/AlEt3, where Mg(OEt)2, DIBP (diisobutyl phthalate), TiCl4, PTES (phenyl triethoxy silane), and triethyl aluminum (AlEt3) (TEAl) were employed as support, internal electron...

Tungstate-loaded triazine-based magnetic poly(Bis-imidazolium ionic liquid): An effective bi-functional catalyst for tandem selective oxidation/Knoevenagel condensation in water

    , Article Polymer (United Kingdom) ; Volume 112 , 2017 , Pages 342-350 ; 00323861 (ISSN) Zohreh, N ; Tavakolizadeh, M ; Hosseini, S. H ; Pourjavadi, A ; Bennett, C ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
A novel bi-functional polymeric catalyst was synthesized by immobilization of tungstate anions onto the nitrogen rich poly(ionic liquid)/magnetic nanocomposite. The resulting catalyst has two types of catalytic sites: (i) immobilized WO4 anions with bis-imidazolium ionic liquid cation for selective oxidation of alcohols and (ii) basic amine groups for Knoevenagel condensation between produced aldehyde and malononitrile. Due to the polymeric nature of the catalyst, large amounts of tungstate and basic nitrogen groups were presented on the solid surface which led to a decrease in the applied catalyst mass for catalytic reaction. High catalytic activity and excellent selectivity of catalyst in...

    , Article Journal of Molecular Catalysis B: Enzymatic ; Volume 90 , June , 2013 , Pages 139-143 ; 13811177 (ISSN) Khosravi, A ; Vossoughi, M ; Shahrokhian, S ; Alemzadeh, I ; Sharif University of Technology
    2013
    Abstract
Synthesis of poly(2,5-dimethoxyanilie) (PDMA) catalyzed by nano reengineered horseradish peroxidase (HRP) with dendritic macromolecules, was studied as a function of reaction media. UV-vis, gel permeation chromatography and conductivity measurements were used to explain how the reaction media compositions influence the physical properties of PDMA. Nanostructured PDMA was also synthesized by oxidative polymerization in a novel and green bi-catalyst system involving HRP and ferric chloride. FTIR and UV-vis analysis confirmed the formation of emeraldine salt state of PDMA. The thermal stability of reengineered HRP granted further studies on the polymerization using bi-catalyst system at...
