    Abstract
The development of an efficient hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) platform needs an optimal design of its powertrain layout. This study is concerned with parallel HEVs (PHEVs) equipped with continuous transmission. First, different types of continuous transmissions, including continuously variable transmission (CVT), power-split CVT (PS-CVT) and multi-fixed ratio PS-CVT (MF-CVT), are discussed and their simulation models are presented. Also, various combinations of these continuous transmissions with PHEV configurations (namely, pre-transmission and posttransmission configurations) are introduced. Then, for a given PHEV model, several powertrain layouts resulting from combining the considered...

Optimum Power Management Strategy for a Hybrid Vehicle Via Artificial Intelligence

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Golmohammadi, Alireza (Author) ; Salarieh, Hassan (Supervisor) ; Khayyat, Amir Ali Akbar (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In the recent years, increasing concerns about the environmental issues necessitatecientists and industrial people to introduce clean and zero emissions vehicles to the global market. Relying on this acute demand,Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEVs) are knownas one potential solution to lessen the negative effects of transportation industry on ecological systems.HEVs combine an Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) with an Electric Motor/Generator (EMG) and an Energy Storage System (ESS) to produce a fuel efficient and low or zero pollutant powertrain. Increasing the number of components in the powertrain requires a sophisticated strategy to control all drive-line components suitably. Surely, the best...

An Improved Voltage and Frequency Droop Control Method for Microgrids having Inverter Based Resources, Realizing the Effect of Lines R/X

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Esmaeili Atrabi, Hamed (Author) ; Vakilian, Mehdi (Supervisor)
    Abstract
The centralized and decentralized control approaches are the most effective control approaches to be applied in micro grids. However, practically to rerduce the cost and improve the reliability, decentralized control is usually employed. Initially, this thesis discusses the components and dynamic model of the micro grid in order to evaluate the stability. Then, it introduces the decentralized control methods which can be used in a micro grid. In the next step, a sample micro gird is studied (with high ratio of lines R/X). This microgrid has three DG plants having DC voltage sources, inverter, and LCL filter. The performance of AVR controls is evaluated by combining the PQ and droop control...

Optimization of multiple transmission layouts for minimal energy consumption of a battery electric vehicle

    , Article Scientia Iranica ; Volume 26, Issue 4A , 2019 , Pages 2382-2393 ; 10263098 (ISSN) Farjam, T ; Foumani, M. S ; Delkhosh, M ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs) are a promising solution for reducing the impacts of passenger vehicles on the environment. However, their driving range is restricted due to the limitations of battery technologies. This range can be extended by adoption of multiple-speed transmissions. Most of the comparisons in the related studies are based on non-optimal designs or limited to modal driving cycles. Furthermore, the impact of Power-Split. Continuously Variable Transmission (PS-CVT) layout with type III power How on the power consumption of BEVs has never been examined. In this paper, single-, two-, and three-speed transmissions along with PS-C'VTs with type I and III power flows are...
