Determination of Suitable Parameters for Design of Nozzle & Diffuser of Surface Jet Pump for Transmission of Low-Pressure Oil Through High- Ressure Oil

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Mohseni, Ali (Author) ; Arghavani Hadi, Jamal (Supervisor) ; Hakkaki Fard, Ali (Co-Supervisor)
    Abstract
Surface Jet Pump (ejector) is one of the most widely used equipment in the industry, which can be used in the oil and gas industry, propulsion and refrigeration systems. One of the uses of surface jet pumps in the oil and gas industry is the use of high-pressure wells to transfar low-pressure wells. The purpose of this research is to measure the transmission feasibility of low-pressure wells using surface jet pumps and optimize surface jet pump geometry. The purpose of optimizing the geometry of the surface jet pump is to maximize the ratio of the discharge rate from the low-pressure well to the high-pressure flow (entranment ratio). One of the most common methods for optimizing the...

Prediction of natural gas flow through chokes using support vector machine algorithm

    , Article Journal of Natural Gas Science and Engineering ; Vol. 18, issue , 2014 , pp. 155-163 ; ISSN: 18755100 Nejatian, I ; Kanani, M ; Arabloo, M ; Bahadori, A ; Zendehboudi, S ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
In oil and gas fields, it is a common practice to flow liquid and gas mixtures through choke valves. In general, different types of primary valves are employed to control pressure and flow rate when the producing well directs the natural gas to the processing equipment. In this case, the valve normally is affected by elevated levels of flow (or velocity) as well as solid materials suspended in the gas phase (e.g., fine sand and other debris). Both surface and subsurface chokes may be installed to regulate flow rates and to protect the porous medium and surface facilities from unusual pressure instabilities. In this study a reliable, novel, computer based predictive model using Least-Squares...

    Abstract
Path planning is crucial in constructability analysis and heavy construction equipment scheduling, particularly in industrial plants. The main purpose of construction equipment path planning is devising the shortest path between its initial and aimed location. This suggested path is supposed to be safe, and collision-free. The current planning practice, even in industrial projects whose sites are extremely congested, is manual based on the expert judgment. Thus, this sophisticated manual process is not only prone to errors, but also time-consuming. This research presents an automated path planning approach based on an obstacle avoidance technique in robotics to support the decision-making...

Probabilistic safety assessment of a UF 6 production process

, Article Advances in Safety, Reliability and Risk Management - Proceedings of the European Safety and Reliability Conference, ESREL 2011 ; 2012 , Pages 1384-1389 ; 9780415683791 (ISBN) Ebrahimi, B ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
Application of Probabilistic Safety Assessment (PSA) to a Uranium hexafluoride (UF 6) production process is presented in this paper. The process is constituted from three main units: UF 4 conversion to UF 6, condensation of produced UF 6 gas and tail gas treatment. Radioactive gas is present in all parts of the process and occurrence of high pressure or high temperature in the process equipments may lead to radioactive release to workplace and environment. The work is mainly based on PSA experience in nuclear power plants. Accordingly for the process, eight group of Initiating Events (IE) that lead to UF 6 gas release have been identified using HAZOP study. For each IE, based on related...
