Developing BIM Vision and BIM Strategic Plan for Municipalities
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Alvanchi, Amin (Supervisor)
Abstract
The municipality is an administrative, public and non-state institution that falls into the city district of the most countries’ administrative divisions. This institution has relatively autonomy and independent power. Municipalities are trying to apply the best approaches (Such as Building Information Modeling (BIM) as a procedure contributing the project management) to save time and money, as well as to satisfy the citizens in the implementation of civil projects. This study examines and evaluates the readiness of municipalities to modify the construction projects based on BIM. In addition, a pattern for identifying BIM applications, evaluating the organization readiness and the needs of...
Providing a Method for Developing Oil & Gas Project’s Time Schedule Automatically, based on Artificial Intelligence and Soft Computing
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Habibi, Moslem (Supervisor)
Abstract
The project schedule is used as a key tool for managers to measure the progress of the project and prevent the deviation of the project from achieving its goals.Project scheduling started with manual methods. After a while, due to the increase in the size of projects and their complexity, the efficiency of traditional methods decreased. After the advances in computer sciences, scientists and experts had moved towards intelligentization and automation.During the past three decades, despite the attention of both academic and industrial fields towards automatic planning and scheduling of projects, Most of the researches focused on construction projects, and unfortunately, a few attentions have...
Monitoring project duration and cost in a construction project by applying statistical quality control charts

Abstract
The earned value is a leading technique in monitoring and analyzing project performance and project progress. Although, it allows exact measurement of project progress, and can uncover any time and cost deviations from the plan, its capability in reporting accepted level of deviation is not well studied. This study presented an approach to overcome this limitation by applying statistical quality control charts to monitor earned value indices. For this purpose, project time and cost performance indices of a real construction project were monitored regularly on individual control charts. The results were quite promising, and not only competed well against traditional approaches, but also...

Abstract
Earned value project management is a well-known management system that integrates cost, schedule and technical performance. It allows the calculation of cost and schedule variances and performance indices and forecasts the project cost and schedule duration. The Earned Value concept was conceived by industrial engineers working in American factories over a century ago. This concept improved by the time and in July 1998, the Earned Value Management System became the American National Standards Institute (ANSI/EIA) Standard #748. By concise reports derived from using Earned Value Method (EVM) in the project, the manager is able to have exact information about the project details and also can...
