    Abstract
The oil-based compounds are widely used in modern human life, and the accidental release or leakage of these compounds is led to water and soil pollution and creates many problems for the environment. The purpose of this study was to determine the efficiency of photo-catalytic degradation of pyrene using Fe-doped TiO2 in the presence of UV. This experimental study was carried out at laboratory scale in a 2 L pilot reactor. The nanoparticle was synthesized by the sol-gel method. Pyrene degradation was investigated under different conditions of pH, reaction time, nanoparticle concentration and pollutant concentration. For the statistical analysis, SPSS V.16 software and one-way analysis of...

Application of numerical simulation to solid phase-microextraction for decreasing of extraction time of pyrene and phthalate esters on solid coatings

    Abstract
Reynolds-Averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) approach with the k-ε closure model is employed for the first time to simulate direct Solid-Phase Micro-Extraction (SPME) computationally. Simulations are performed by using COMSOL Multiphysics in order to examine methods to decrease the extraction time. Experiments are also conducted to support data obtained from the numerical framework. Di-n-Butyl Phthalate (DNBP) and etched steel wire are chosen as the analyte and the adsorbent, respectively. Stirring rate, fiber's location, stirrer magnet's size, and the method of sample rotation are examined to decrease the extraction time. In addition, the effects of adding a baffle to the vial and implementing a...

    Abstract
Treated waste water (TWW) quality varies due to the occurrence of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) up to low μg L−1. In this study, a non-targeted metabolomic analysis was performed on lettuce (Lactuca sativa L) exposed to 4 PAHs by irrigation. The plants were watered with different concentrations of contaminants (0–100 μg L−1) for 39 days under controlled conditions and then harvested, extracted and analyzed by nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR). Different chemometric tools based on principal component analysis (PCA) and partial least square discriminant analysis (PLS-DA) are proposed for the analysis of the complex data sets generated in the different exposure experiments....
