    Abstract
Purpose: The purpose of this research is to propose a framework for developing business intelligence systems (BIS). Design/methodology/approach: Following a qualitative research method, a comprehensive framework at organizational and individual level, as well as team level, was developed. Findings: The findings revealed that team-level influential factors play a more significant role in BIS development success. The results also indicate that BIS development relies on suppliers, customers and their relationships, whereas the supplier side has a more significant impact on determining successful development. Drawing on these findings, embedded knowledge, knowledge management process capability...

Design and fabrication of a new expandable transtibial liner with manual volume control: A prototype

    , Article Journal of Biomedical Physics and Engineering ; Volume 10, Issue 4 , 2020 , Pages 543-548 Nouri, M. J ; Aminian, G ; Farahmand, F ; Rahgozar, M ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
Diurnal volume changes is one of the main factors influencing socket fit in trans-tibial prosthesis and causing pressure problem issues. Embedded bladder liners have been recently a potential approach to deal with this problem. The aim of this technical note was to introduce a new transtibial silicone liner designed based on hybrid socket theory. To make expandability in the liner, an integrated wax structure was constructed over the selected areas of the positive model and then removed after lamination process. In addition, a mechanical system with manual control was designed to fit the liner with the residual limb volume by pumping the water in or out of the liner through connec-tive...

Technological Capabilities as the Base of Diversification Strategy: A Theoretical Framework and its application in TAAM Irankhodro

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Malekifar, Siavash (Author) ; Arasti, Mohammad Reza (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Corporations play a significant role in countries economy. These companies are usually active in multi and diverse businesses. Their business diversification could be based on technological capabilities. Therefore it's important to consider the relation between technology strategy (eventually leads to technological capabilities) and the strategy of diversification (as an overall strategy) at acorporate level. Unfortunately, there's no a proper theoretical framework to underpin this relation or offer a method for practical decision-makings. The aim of this research is to fill partially this gap and purpose a new framework for linking technology to business diversification at a corporate...

Agency and Large-Scale Institutional Changes; The Study of the Creation of the Biopharmaceutical Industry in Iran

, Ph.D. Dissertation Sharif University of Technology Babaei، Ali (Author) ; Mashayekhi, Ali Naghi (Supervisor) ; Miremadi, Iman (Supervisor) ; Maleki, Ali (Co-Supervisor)
    Abstract
Neither state planning nor economic liberalization has been the answer for developing countries to escape from the middle-income trap, mainly due to presence of institutional voids and due to the governance of hindering institutions. Therefore, we need another explanation for how of the development, which must include how institutions change and how new institutions and new institutional fields emerge. Developing countries are full of institutional voids and the governance of hindering institutions. Therefore, the process of economic development in these countries, is beyond the power of market and state, and needs agency. Responding to the recent call by the literature for doing more...

An optimized probabilistic edge based level set method for left ventricle segmentation in echocardiography images

    , Article Biomedical Research (India) ; Volume 28, Issue 8 , 2017 , Pages 3788-3793 ; 0970938X (ISSN) Sahba, N ; Fatemizadeh, E ; Behnam, H ; Sharif University of Technology
    Scientific Publishers of India  2017
    Abstract
In this paper, an efficient approach for ultrasonic object segmentation with special application for left ventricle segmentation in echocardiography images is proposed. At first, an efficient hybrid trend for ultrasonic image edge detection is suggested. Then, a modified level set approach is introduced based on the extracted edges and the computed probabilistic map as the stopping criteria for the contour evolution. Both synthetic and clinical images are utilized as validation measures with respect to the prior techniques which indicate outperform results quantitatively and qualitatively. Left ventricle segmentation using proposed method illustrates expert-approved performance, providing a...

RA-GCN: Graph convolutional network for disease prediction problems with imbalanced data

    , Article Medical Image Analysis ; Volume 75 , 2022 ; 13618415 (ISSN) Ghorbani, M ; Kazi, A ; Soleymani Baghshah, M ; Rabiee, H. R ; Navab, N ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
Disease prediction is a well-known classification problem in medical applications. Graph Convolutional Networks (GCNs) provide a powerful tool for analyzing the patients’ features relative to each other. This can be achieved by modeling the problem as a graph node classification task, where each node is a patient. Due to the nature of such medical datasets, class imbalance is a prevalent issue in the field of disease prediction, where the distribution of classes is skewed. When the class imbalance is present in the data, the existing graph-based classifiers tend to be biased towards the major class(es) and neglect the samples in the minor class(es). On the other hand, the correct diagnosis...
