    Abstract
The present work numerically investigates the mass and heat transport flow of micropolar fluid in a channel having permeable walls. The appropriate boundary layer approximations are used to convert the system of flow model equations in ODEs, which are then numerically treated with the quasi-linearization method along with finite difference discretization. This technique creates an efficient way to solve the complex dynamical system of equations. A numerical data comparison is presented which assures the accuracy of our code. The outcomes of various problem parameters are portrayed via the graphs and tables. The concentration and temperature accelerate with the impacts of the Peclet numbers...

    Abstract
Thermal performance of magnetically driven Casson nanofluid over a nonlinear stretching sheet under the influence of entropy, activation energy and convective boundary conditions was analyzed numerically, employing the quasi-linearization method (QLM). The collective behavior of thermophoretic diffusion and Brownian motion along with special effects of viscous dissipation, thermal radiation, heat generation and joule heating are considered in the energy equation for the flow problem. The addition of nanoparticles helps to stabilize the flowing of a nanofluid and maintain the symmetry of the flowing structure. The governing highly nonlinear coupled differential equations of velocity,...

    Abstract
Nano-fluids have considerable importance in the field of thermal development that relates to several industrial systems. There are some key applications in recent construction systems flow, as well as microscale cooling gadgets and microstructure electric gadgets for thermal migration. The current investigation concludes the study of electrically conducting nano-fluid flow and heat transfer analysis in two-dimensional boundary layer flow over a curved extending surface in the coexisting of magnetic field, heat generation and thermal radiation. The small sized particles of copper (Cu) are taken as nanoparticles and water is assumed to be the base fluid. We used quasi-linearization and central...

    Abstract
In the present investigation, we consider the heat and mass transfer characteristics of steady, incompressible and electrically conducting Casson fluid flow in a channel. The effect of chemical reactions have also been considered. The differential transform method (DTM) is applied to a system of non-linear ODEs, and the results are obtained in the form of DTM series. The principal gain of this approach is that it applies to the non-linear ODEs without requiring any discretization, linearization or perturbation. The velocity, mass and heat transfer profiles thus obtained are in good agreement with those provided by the quasi-linearization method (QLM). Graphical results for velocity,...

Numerical simulation of viscous dissipation in a micropolar fluid flow through a porous medium

    , Article Journal of Applied Mechanics and Technical Physics ; Volume 60, Issue 6 , 2019 , Pages 996-1004 ; 00218944 (ISSN) Ahmad, S ; Ashraf, M ; Ali, K ; Sharif University of Technology]

    Abstract
Taking into account the effect of viscous dissipation in the energy equation, we numerically explore the flow of an incompressible micropolar fluid with heat and mass transfer through a resistive porous medium between plane channel walls. By exploiting a similarity transformation, the governing partial differential equations are transformed into a system of nonlinear coupled ordinary differential equations, which are solved numerically for various problem parameters by means of quasi-linearization. It is found that the effect of viscous dissipation is to increase the heat and mass transfer rate at both the lower and upper walls of the channel. © 2019, Pleiades Publishing, Ltd

A new continuous model for flexural vibration analysis of a cracked beam

    , Article Polish Maritime Research ; Volume 15, Issue 2 , July , 2008 , Pages 32-39 ; 12332585 (ISSN) Behzad, M ; Ebrahimi, A ; Meghdari, A ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
In this paper a new continuous model for vibration analysis of a beam with an open edge crack is presented. A quasi-linear displacement filed is suggested for the beam and the strain and stress fields are calculated. The equation of motion of the beam is calculated using the Hamilton principle. The calculated equation of motion is solved with a modified weighted residual method and the natural frequencies and mode shapes are obtained. The results are compared with those obtained by finite element method and an excellent agreement has been observed. The presented model is a simple and accurate method for analysis of the cracked beam behavior near or far from the crack tip

Quasi-linearization analysis for heat and mass transfer of magnetically driven 3rd-grade (Cu-TiO2/engine oil) nanofluid via a convectively heated surface

    Abstract
The features of heat transferral capability between metallic (Cu) and non-metallic (TiO2) nanoparticles suspended in the engine-oil (EO) third-grade base-liquid has been analysed under the influence of strong magnetic field. The numerical investigation of system of coupled differential equations for third-grade nanofluid flow model is accomplished via Quasi-linearization method (QLM). The stretching horizontal sheet is heated through convective heat process assuming the special effects of thermal radiation, joule heating, heat generation and viscous dissipation in the energy equation. The mass suction and slip velocity at the boundary of the sheet has been taken into account to enhance...

A Topological and Geometric Approach to Fixed Points Results for Sum of Operators and Applications

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Malekzadeh, Soheil (Author) ; Ranjbar, Ali (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In this thesis, we establish a fixed point result of Krasnoselskii type for the sum A+B, where A and B are continuous maps acting on locally convex spaces. We apply such results to obtain strong solutions for some quasi-linear elliptic equations with lack of compactness. We also provide an application to the existence and regularity theory of solutions to a nonlinear integral equation modeled in a Banach space. Finally, we develop a sequentially weak continuity result for a class of operators acting on vector-valued Lebesgue spaces. Such a result is used together with a geometric condition as the main tool to provide an existence theory for nonlinear integral equations in Lp(E)

    Abstract
Among numerous methods which have been employed to reinforce the thermal efficiency in many systems, one is the thermal radiation which is a mode of heat transfer. Another way to improve the thermal efficiency is the utilization of the porous media. The present work includes the study of micropolar flow with allowance for thermal radiation through a resistive porous medium between channel walls. The governing coupled partial differential equations representing the flow model are transmuted into ordinary ones by using the suitable dimensionless coordinates, and then, quasi-linearization is employed to solve the set of relevant coupled ODEs. Effects of physical parameters on the flow under...

    Abstract
In this paper, a constitutive and micromechanical model for prediction of rate-dependent behavior of connective tissues (CTs) is presented. Connective tissues are considered as nonlinear viscoelastic material. The rate-dependent behavior of CTs is incorporated into model using the well-known quasi-linear viscoelasticity (QLV) theory. A planar wavy representative volume element (RVE) is considered based on the tissue microstructure histological evidences. The presented model parameters are identified based on the available experiments in the literature. The presented constitutive model introduced to ABAQUS by means of UMAT subroutine. Results show that, monotonic uniaxial test predictions of...
