Design a Software To Evaluate The Release of Radioactive Material in Air

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Ebrahimi Shohani, Mohammad (Author) ; Vosoughi, Naser (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Releasing radioactive materials in atmosphere and their damages on human health via emitting radioactivity, show the necessity of investigations on their behavior. To simulate behavior of radioactive materials in atmosphere, we use Gaussian plume model. Gaussian model as a mathematical tool can simulate diffusion of Gaseous matters. This model also can be employed for radioactive materials. Radioactive materials vanish by decaying and can be produced via decaying of their mothers! Therefore, later effect must be considered in the Gaussian model via a factor. Many factors like wind speed and weather conditions also are involved in diffusion of radioactive materials. By considering all of...

    Abstract
The ultimate purpose of the nuclear power plant safety is to protect the public and the environment from unacceptable radiation exposure in all operational states. This paper presents a novel severe accident management framework to cope with the risk of radioactive material release to the environment. The objective is to reduce the contribution of severe accidents to the large and early release frequencies of radioactive materials for a VVER-1000 nuclear reactor. The proposed approach includes the emergency actions of NPP personnel aiming to recover the lost alternating power and restore the core cooling process by all means available at the site. In addition, mobile equipment including a...

Probabilistic Risk Assessment of Spent Fuel Transfer System at BNPP

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Abdollahi, Fatemeh (Author) ; Samadfam, Mohammad (Supervisor) ; Ghofrani, Mohammad Bagher (Supervisor) ; Babaei, Fardin (Co-Advisor) ; Ebrahimi, Behrooz (Co-Advisor)
    Abstract
Transfer of Spent Nuclear Fuel from reactor building to storage facilities is one of the most important operations at Front End of Nuclear Fuel Cycle. The aim of this project is to calculate the risk of the radioactive materials release into the environment during various stages of spent fuel transfer operations. In addition, the contribution of each of the initiating events in total release probability were also determined. For this purpose, Probabilistic Risk Assessment method which is usually used in safety evaluation of the nuclear facilities, is applied. The main tools used in this method are event tree and fault tree. In this study, SAPHIRE software has been used to construct the event...
