    Abstract
    The time delay equations are frequently used to model real systems since they can describe the after-effect phenomenon. It is usually difficult to analyze the properties of time delay systems. Thus it would be beneficial to make the systems as simple as possible. For this purpose, the decomposition of the systems into some separate or cascaded sub-systems with smaller dimension is introduced as the solution of the mentioned complex task. The decomposition of the time delay systems with one delay is directly related to simultaneous similarity of two matrices.     Abstract
    In this thesis, we derive the analytic condition that linear time invariant fractional order system being positive real. Also, by inspiration of positive real condition, we derive the analytic condition for linear time invariant fractional order system that their imaginary part of frequency response being negative. Intended conditions for single input single output systems are derived in the form of necessary conditions in one way and derived in the form of sufficient conditions in another way.     Abstract
    FPGAs are interesting choices for control of power electronics converters and electrical drives. In this paper, implementation of the control method of a reduced switch- count five-leg converter is carried out. Two PWM methods are studied. For verification of the implemented controller in a practical manner, without risking the damaging of the real system, "FPGA in the loop" experiments are performed. It is shown that using the proposed methodology, FPGA implementation and verification is fast and effective. The provided results show the high performance of the implemented controller on the FPGA, therefore the feasibility and suitability of the FPGA for this application is approved

    Abstract
    Delay in communication wires causes design iterations in system-on-chip. Latency-insensitive design copes with this issue by encapsulating each core in a shell wrapper and inserting buffers in the wires to separate the design of core from that of communication wires. Scheduling-based latency-insensitive protocol is a methodology which employs shift registers for periodic clock gating of blocks instead of the shell wrappers. In many cases, the bit sequences inside the shift registers are too long and therefore consume a large area.     This article deals with analyzing the phase–frequency response of commande robuste d'ordre non-entier approximations of fractional-order differentiators. More precisely, an algebraic tight upper bound is derived for the phase of the approximations obtained from the commande robuste d'ordre non-entier method.     Dynamic modeling of piezo-driven compliant mechanisms is necessary to predict dynamic behavior of nanopositioning systems, and also to optimize their controlling methods. Dynamic tests on a real system or dynamic analyses on a FEM model is very time consuming when they must be carried out iteratively.     This paper discusses the application of unified power quality conditioner (UPQC) for improving power quality of a system supplying an electric arc furnace (EAF). The UPQC includes combined series and shunt active filters sharing a common DC link. It is used to mitigate voltage disturbances and compensate for reactive power, harmonics and interharmonics. A novel control strategy for the UPQC is presented. As voltages at the point of common coupling contain low-frequency interharmonics, conventional methods cannot be used for extracting voltage reference signals.
