    Abstract
A new hybrid method based on multimode contour integral and mode matching techniques will be introduced. It is capable of analyzing any H-plane discontinuity in a rectangular waveguide. The process is based on segmentation and dividing the structure into key building blocks. We use the multimode contour integral method to analyze the blocks including irregular shape H-plane discontinuities. In opposite to traditional contour integral method, which considers only the effect of dominant mode (TE10) on wave ports, multimode contour integral considers the effect of higher order modes (TE n0) excited by discontinuities on these ports. The mode matching technique will be used to analyze the...

Formation of hotspots in partially filled ferrite-loaded rectangular waveguides

    , Article Journal of Applied Physics ; Volume 122, Issue 23 , 2017 ; 00218979 (ISSN) Marvasti, M ; Rejaei, B ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
We theoretically investigate the formation of hotspots at microwave frequencies in a partially filled, ferrite-loaded rectangular waveguide. When the unidirectional mode of this waveguide approaches an impenetrable conducting barrier, its magnetic field rises sharply due to the absence of reflection. To study this phenomenon, we use the magnetostatic approximation and derive a surface integral equation for the normal component of magnetic flux density on the surface of the ferrite layer. For a half-filled waveguide, an analytic solution is found, which shows the magnetic field to diverge near the barrier as | x | - q, where | x | is the distance from the barrier edge and q is slightly less...

Tunable left-handed characteristics of ferrite rectangular waveguide periodically loaded with complementary split-ring resonators

    Abstract
We propose, for the first time, a tunable left-handed (LH) waveguide consisting of an array of complementary split-ring resonators built on the broad wall of a rectangular waveguide filled with ferrite material. The left-handed behavior is caused by the negative permittivity of the complementary split-ring resonators together with the negative permeability of the transversely magnetized ferrite. The electromagnetic behavior of this structure is studied by means of an equivalent circuit model. From this model, the dispersion relation of the guide is derived and validated numerically by the finite element method. It is shown that this structure has a left-handed frequency band that can be...

    Abstract
In collisional and ponderomotive predominant regimes, the propagation of microwave in rectangular waveguide filled with collisional plasma is investigated numerically. The dominant mode is excited through an evacuated waveguide and then enters a similar and co-axis waveguide filled with plasma. In collisional predominant regime, the amplitude of electric field is oscillated along propagation path; outset of propagation path due to the electron-ion collision, the intensity oscillations are reduced. Afterward, under competition between the collisional nonlinearity and absorption, the intensity is increased, so the electron density peak is created in middle of waveguide. In ponderomotive...

    Abstract
In this paper, we present a design method of dual-band waveguide rectangular cavity filters, with a series in-line topology. The coupling matrix is based on asynchronously tuned designs, where two sets of resonances exist for the two bands. Thus the filter is inherently different than the typical dual-band designs in the literature, as existing designs utilize resonators at the same frequency. The design at Ku band validates the underlying idea and concept, and the theory of the detuned coupling matrix. This rectangular waveguide implementation can provide noticeable miniaturization in applications with high-power requirements

    Abstract
We present a technology for the manufacturing of silicon- filled integrated waveguides enabling the realization of lowloss high-performance millimeter-wave passive components and high gain array antennas, thus facilitating the realization of highly integrated millimeter-wave systems. The proposed technology employs deep reactive-ion-etching (DRIE) techniques with aluminum metallization steps to integrate rectangular waveguides with high geometrical accuracy and continuousmetallic side walls. Measurement results of integrated rectangular waveguides are reported exhibiting losses of 0.15 dB/ at 105GHz.Moreover, ultra-wideband coplanar to waveguide transitions with 0.6 dB insertion loss at 105...
