An Approach to Use the Resiliency in the Supply Chain

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Darbandi, Maedeh (Author) ; Kianfar, Farhad (Supervisor)
    Abstract
The design and planning of resilient supply chains is a major challenge due to the increasing complexity of these systems that operate in a global market and therefore are more exposed to disruptions. Present work aims to apply principle of resiliency in a supply chain by simulation. A case study of Shahab Company is used to illustrate the effect of redundancy and agility on its resiliency. We simulate the relationships of Shahab Company with its suppliers, and the suppliers with their sources and investigate the effects of disruptions in the model. Shahab Company has two main supplier and they own sources. To evaluate the designed model, two performance measures were defined, inventory and...

A Survey of Resiliency in Structure of the Service-Oriented Supply Chain (Bank System)

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Motallem, Sina (Author) ; Kianfar, Farhad (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In today’s competitive market, IT development, increasing customers’ expectations, economic globalization and other modern competitive priorities, made organizations change. Need to respond to better customers’ demands, competition changing condition, and increasing environmental noises are the motivations to notice resiliency. Moreover, to increase competitiveness in such a changing business environment, companies should cooperate with their customers and providers to not only conduct the operation simply and effectively but also to reach a level of rapidity and resiliency which companies can’t get through solely. Supply chains are effective. However, they are complicated since they have...

News-based Stock Forecasting Using Text Mining Methods

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Ashtiani, Mohammad Hossein (Author) ; Rafiee, Majid (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Predicting the trend of stock prices is always one of the concerns that stock market analysts and investors face with, which plays a critical role in maximizing the profit from investing in stocks. Past stock price charts, raw material prices, the value of the company's assets, the impact of global markets, the company's products, the organization's development plans, and the same other factors influencing the stock price. News reports are an important source of information for people. Recently, a lot of research has been done to examine the impact of news on stock price trends. This research has two research phases. In the first phase, a text mining method is presented which is using...

Modeling of the Flood-induced Failure of Community Infrastructure Systems with Emphasis on Food Supply Chain

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Daneshifar, Asma (Author) ; Kashani, Hamed (Supervisor)
    Abstract
This study provides a probabilistic framework for assessing and quantifying flood damage to infrastructure. This framework models the state of the community's infrastructure after the occurrence of possible floods in five steps. The first step is to model the hazard using a set of models that determine the characteristics of potential floods. The second step is to model and estimate the damage to community buildings and infrastructure. In the third step, infrastructure serviceability is modeled. The infrastructures that are modeled in this study are water distribution network, power network, transportation networks and industrial facilities for processing agricultural products. In the fourth...

A Multi-Objective Optimization Model to Design a Resilient Supply Chain

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Rostami, Saber (Author) ; Najafi, Mehdi (Supervisor) ; Rafiee, Majid (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In recent two decades, occurrence of unexpected disruptions, made supply chains more vulnerable and caused huge damages to them. As a result, in recent researches, the concept of supply chain resilience that concentrates on supply chain vulnerability and disruptions has been focused more. In this thesis, a new framework for resilient suppliers characteristics would be presented that can be used for evaluating resilience level of suppliers and resilient supplier selection. By utilizing scenario-based two-stage stochastic approach, a multi-objective mixed integer nonlinear model is proposed for designing a resilient four echelon supply. In the proposed model, the possibility of partial...

Sustainable-Resilient Supplier Selection Through Fuzzy Multi-Criteria Decision Making Approaches

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Varchandi, Sahar (Author) ; Akbari Jokar, Mohammad Resa (Supervisor) ; Memari, Ashkan (Co-Supervisor)
    Abstract
Today, with the expansion of business relations at international levels, there are many organizations that operate in global supply chains. Activities at such levels face new types of challenges in various fields of "supply chain management" pillars, of which "supplier selection" is one of them. The possibility of unexpected events, the need to comply with environmental protection laws, as well as the need to take into account social considerations, are among the things that have increased by being in larger supply chains, making it challenging to provide the basic resources needed in such chains and forcing their managers to considering considerations other than what they have always...
