    Abstract
    In this paper a new technique called switched-resistor is used as an alternative to switched-capacitor circuits in a low-voltage low-power high-speed A/D converter. Simulation results for an 8-bit 150MS/s pipeline ADC are presented. This converter consumes 20mW from a 1.8V supply and provides an ENOB of 7.5bit. © 2007 IEEE  

    Low voltage ride-through capability improvement of DFIG-based wind turbines under unbalanced voltage dips

    Abstract
    This paper proposes a competent and effective scheme to enhance the ride-through capability of DFIG-based wind turbines under unbalanced voltage dip conditions. The proposed method is realized through joint use of the rotor-side converter control and a three-phase stator damping resistor (SDR) placed in series with the stator windings. By means of an asymmetrical SDR idea, during the unbalanced voltage dip the SDR resistors are activated only in phase(s) experiencing low voltage. Then, the rotor current is controlled such that no unbalance voltage appears on the stator voltage.     Here, the necessary and sufficient conditions for realisability of a general class of impedance functions by passive electrical networks composed of two fractional element (fractional capacitor or fractional inductor) and some resistors are found.     A novel current reference with low temperature and supply sensitivity and without any external component has been developed in a 0.25 μm mixed-mode process. The circuit is based on a bandgap reference (BGR) voltage and a CMOS circuit similar to a beta multiplier. An NMOS transistor in triode region has been used in place of a resistor in conventional beta multiplier to achieve a current which has a negative temperature coefficient and only oxide thickness dependent. The BGR voltage has a positive temperature coefficient to cancel the negative temperature coefficient of the beta multiplier.     Abstract
    A 3rd order, 1.1 MHz, lowpass butterworth Gm-c filter has been combined with a low noise Variable Gain Amplifier to form the Variable Gain Filter (VGF). In this VGF an improved transconductor is used and a new method is used to adjust the transconductance gain for tuning application. A continuous variable gain current-to-current converter is used to tune the transconductor value. The THD of the VGF is -85 dB for 1 Vppd input signal and -50 dB for 3 Vppd input signal. VGF gain can be varied from 0 to 31 dB with 1 dB variation steps. Input referred noise is 20 nV/√Hz for maximum gain. All the circuits are designed based on a 0.25 μm CMOS process technology

    Abstract
    This paper introduces "switched-resistor" circuits as a new family of current-mode sampled-data circuits with improved accuracy and linearity. Advantages of the switched-resistor circuits for high-speed and low-voltage applications are demonstrated. A switched-resistor biquad band-pass filter with a quality factor of 10 and clock frequency of 100 MHz, fabricated in a 0.18 μ m CMOS process, is also presented.     An active switched-capacitor 4-path bandpass filter suitable for multi-standard applications in ultra-high frequency (UHF) band with different channel bandwidths is designed and simulated in 0.18 μm CMOS technology. The baseband impedance of the filter is implemented as a second-order Gm-C low-pass filter which can be used to tune the channel bandwidth as well as the quality factor (Q) of the RF filter.     Clamp mode resistor capacitor diode (CMRCD) snubbers have a simple and easy implementing structure. They have been widely adopted in the pulsed power supplies to provide a safe operating condition for the series insulated gate bipolar transistors (IGBTs). The main problem of the CMRCD snubbers is their poor performance in the voltage balancing of the series IGBTs. They are essentially overvoltage protectors and clamp the voltage of the IGBTs in a probable potentially dangerous condition. By adding a source degeneration resistor to the conventional peaking current source architecture, a zero temperature coefficient current can be generated.     In this brief, modifications to the peaking current reference with MOS transistors operating in the subthreshold and the strong inversion region has been proposed by means of which very small currents with immunity to temperature variations on a chip can be obtained.
