    Abstract
    The main objective of this article is to estimate the seismological source parameters of Silakhor earthquake which happened on March 31, 2006, in the southern part of Iran. The Empirical Green's Function approach was used for simulating the main shock and the well known Genetic Algorithm was utilized for modifying the seismological source parameters. The Kostrov slip function was adopted in the model due to its ability in more accurately modeling the rupture process. The selected station was sufficiently far away from the causative source so that the near source problems would not effect on the simulated time series.     Abstract
    Abstract In this study, the response spectrum of a time-varying system such as a beam subjected to moving masses under a harmonic and earthquake support excitations is explored. The excitations are supposed to act on the horizontal directions of the beam axis. The inertial effect of the moving masses on the natural frequencies of the beam for different cases of loading is investigated and a critical value of a so called parameter "mass staying time" is presented to avoid dynamic instability of the system.     Abstract
    Iran as one of the countries located on the Alpine-Himalayan seismic belt has recently experienced a few number of catastrophic earthquakes. A well-known index of how buildings are affected by earthquakes is through assessment of probable Peak Ground Acceleration (PGA) and structures' response spectra. In this research, active faults around Kerman and Birjand, two major cities in eastern parts of Iran, have been considered. Seismic catalogues are gathered to categorize effects of surrounding faults on seismicity of the region. These catalogues were further refined with respect to time and space based on Knopoff-Gardner algorithm in order to increase statistical independency of events....

    Abstract
    Theoretical and experimental verification of the pipe damper was investigated in Part I of the two companion papers. In this paper, the application of the pipe damper to structures is examined. In particular, single span slab-girder bridges are considered for analytical investigations. A practical detail for the installation of the pipe damper is introduced. Nonlinear dynamic time history analyses are conducted on bridges equipped with the pipe damper and the results are compared with ordinary bridges. Bridge span, ground motion and the pipe length are varied in the analyses. Results show that the pipe damper is a reliable and economical metallic-yielding device that can easily be installed...

    The main purpose of this article is to estimate the seismological source parameters of the December 26, 2003, Bam earthquake Mw6.5 (Iran). The selected station is far away from the causative fault so that the synthesized ground motion would not be influenced by near source problems such as directivity effects. The well known Empirical Green's Functions (EGF) is used to synthesize the three components of main shock. The Kostrov slip model describing the entire rupture process was incorporated in the model.     Tabriz has experienced several large destructive historical earthquakes in the past. Due to the absence of ground motion records in this area, a simulation of future events based on a regional seismicity information and ground motion model is necessary. Based on a maximum likelihood method, earthquake magnitude is estimated for a 10% probability of exceedance within 50 years (475-year return period) and its corresponding strong ground motions have been simulated using stochastic finite fault modeling.
