    Abstract
    Synthesis and swelling behavior of a new superabsorbent hydrogel based on natural salep grafted with polyacrylamide is described. The new superabsorbent hydrogel biopolymer was synthesized via radical crosslinking and graft copolymerization of acrylamide monomer onto salep backbones. Regarding to the water absorption of hydrogel, the best synthesis condition is reported. FTIR spectroscopy and thermogravimetric analysis were used to confirm the structure of the final product and a mechanism for superabsorbent hydrogel formation was also suggested.     Abstract
    A hydrophilic macromolecular network is prepared by performing graft opolymerization of poly (sodium acrylate) chains onto salep and silica gel. The reaction parameters affecting the water absorbency of the superabsorbent composite were optimized using Taguchi method. FT-IR spectroscopy and Thermo Gravimetric Analysis (TGA) were used for confirming the structure of the final product and morphology of the synthesized superabsorbent composite was examined by SEM.     Abstract
    A novel and smart biopolymer-based hydrogel was synthesized by graft copolymerization of acrylic acid onto the salep backbones. The new superabsorbent hydrogel was synthesized via simultaneous crosslinking and graft copolymerization of acrylic acid (AA) monomer onto salep backbones using radiochemical methods. In radiochemical methods, γ-rays as initiator, energy source and crosslinker are applied.     Abstract

    Abstract
    The synthesis and catalytic behavior of palladium loaded magnetic nanocomposite based on natural polysaccharide salep modified with poly (amino pyridine) is described. The synthesized support is loaded with relatively large amounts of palladium ions (0.34mmol g−1). This is a simple, ecologically safe and cost-effective route for the preparation of the novel heterogeneous catalyst that shows high activity for Suzuki coupling reactions under remarkably mild conditions. Furthermore, the prepared catalyst is magnetically recovered and effectively reused for seven cycles of reactions without significant loss of its catalytic activity and loaded palladium nanoparticles. © 2017

    Abstract
    A new cationic flocculant was synthesized by graft copolymerization of acrylamide (AM) and 3-(methacryloylamino)propyl]trimethylammonium chloride (MAPTAC) onto salep using free radical polymerization initiated by ammonium persulfate (APS) to produce cationic salep [S-g-P(AM-co-MAPTAC)]. Reaction parameters (monomers/salep ratio, concentration of reactants, MAPTAC/AM ratio, and APS) were optimized using a full factorial experimental design to obtain the highest settling rate for cement suspensions.     Hydrogels of poly(acrylic acid) grafted onto salep with excellent water absorption and water retention abilities under neutral conditions were successfully synthesized for the first time and employed for different applications. The effect of reaction variables to achieve maximum swelling capacity was investigated.     Abstract
    In this work, a novel heterogeneous organocatalyst was synthesized by immobilization of hydroxide ions on the modified salep as a natural polymer. Because of the grafting of ionic polymer chains onto the salep backbone, catalyst has high loading level of hydroxide ions (3.01 mmol/g). The resulting catalyst shows excellent activity in the synthesis of 4H-benzo[b]pyrans in water at room temperature in short reaction times. The present catalyst and protocol represent a simple, ecologically safe and cost-effective route to synthesize 4H-benzo[b]pyrans with high product yield, as well as easy catalyst recycling

    Salep phosphate modified biopolymers with different phosphate contents were prepared via reacting salep (a multi-component polysaccharide obtained from dried tubers of certain natural terrestrial orchids) with a solution of primary and secondary sodium phosphates under basic conditions in a semidry process.
