    Abstract
    Employing profiles using variable sample size (VSS) may improve its effectiveness and hence is investigated in this paper. Besides, the implementation cost of a profile is an important factor in determining the main parameters. In this paper, the Lorenzen-Vance function is first extended to model implementation cost of VSS linear profiles. Then, the resulted economic model is solved using a genetic algorithm (GA). The average run length criterion when process is in control, ARL0 and the average run length measure when process goes out of control, ARL1 , is used to evaluate statistical properties of the designed profile.     Functional connectivity in human brain can be represented as a network using electroencephalography (EEG) signals. These networks--whose nodes can vary from tens to hundreds--are characterized by neurobiologically meaningful graph theory metrics. This study investigates the degree to which various graph metrics depend upon the network size.     Boosting is a general method for improving the accuracy of any given learning algorithm. In this paper, we have proposed the boosting method for face recognition (FR) that improves the linear discriminant analysis (LDA)-based technique. The improvement is achieved by incorporating the regularized LDA (R-LDA) technique into the boosting framework.     In this paper a new solution for the single sample problem in low resolution face recognition is proposed. The proposed solution uses an enhanced virtual pose generation method to extend the number of face images of each identity. Using a top-right face image of an identity in the gallery, the method generates other poses of the same identity. Face images are represented as a set of local patches.     Direction-of-arrival (DOA) estimation algorithms usually impose high computation burden and most of them are incapable of facing the coherent sources. In this paper, a new computationally efficient algorithm that is robust against the coherent sources is proposed. This method is based on a combination of the Maximum Likelihood (ML) and Orthogonal-Matching-Pursuit (OMP) algorithms.     In this article, the general linear profile-monitoring problem in multistage processes is addressed. An approach based on the U statistic is first proposed to remove the effect of the cascade property in multistage processes.
