    Abstract
    A literature review of laboratory and field scale studies on low salinity water (LSW) injection showed that the salinity and composition of injected water can have a significant impact on oil recovery. Historically, extensive research has been completed to understand the mechanisms and factors affecting LSW injection. However, although numerous mechanisms have been proposed to describe the interactions in the target process, none have been widely accepted.     Abstract
    Petroleum production often involves simultaneous flow of three immiscible fluids through underground porous rock formation. In this work, we measure two- and three-phase relative permeabilities with which we examine the performance of various 3-phase relative permeability models. The rock-fluid systems used in these measurements are comprised of sandstone samples, oil (n-decane), water (Nacl, 6000. ppm) and gas (nitrogen). The measurements were carried out at 23 ± 1 °C and 5.44 MPa. Two- and three-phase relative permeability measurements were obtained using the steady-state technique.     Abstract
    In this work effect of composition changes of injection gas, CH4 + CO2, on the performance of immiscible WAG injection in light oil, 41 oAPI, which has been rarely attended in the available literature is investigated. Presence of CO2 helps to reduce the MMP of CH4 significantly. Core flood experiments are conducted at reservoir conditions and fixed flow rate of 0.5cc/min on a sandstone sample with the brine concentration of 5000 ppm, and the influence of injection gas composition as well as WAG ratio on oil recovery is investigated.     Abstract
    Static and dynamic properties of porous media are highly dependent on its internal geometry. CT scan images are generally used to characterize porous media geometry. Direct simulation of fluid flow on CT scan images is possible but considerably time-consuming. In this study, a new method was developed for extracting a simplified representation known as “pore network model” by utilizing a rigorous algebraic-analytical method.
