Abstract
Microfluidic concentration gradient generators (μCGGs) are indispensable parts of many emerging lab-on-a-chip platforms for biological studies and drug delivery applications. Most of the μCGGs reported in the literature can only generate the desired concentration gradients in a micron-sized sample (e.g., cells). As such, there is an unmet need to design a μCGG that can generate continuous concentration gradients of multi reagents (e.g., drugs) in a millimeter-sized sample (e.g., tissue). Herein, we report the proof-of-concept of this class of μCGG by combining a modified tree-like CGG with a micromixer. By conducting both experimental investigation and numerical analysis, we show that the...
Application of sensitivity analysis to the development of high performance adaptive hydraulic engine mounts
, Article Vehicle System Dynamics ; Volume 39, Issue 4 , 2003 , Pages 257-278 ; 00423114 (ISSN) ; Khajepour, A ; Durali, M ; Sharif University of Technology

Abstract
In this paper, the sensitivity analysis is applied to the development of high performance adaptive hydraulic mounts. The analysis allows us to select the most effective design parameters for tuning an adaptive mount to different road and engine conditions. It is shown that in the low frequency road excitation, the upper chamber compliance and inertia of the fluid column in the inertia track are the most influential properties in changing the dynamic stiffness of the hydraulic mount. These properties for the high frequency engine excitations are the upper compliance and the inertia of the fluid column of the decoupler. For tuning the adaptive mount to different road and engine excitation, a...

Abstract
Ontology Alignment is a process for finding related entities of different ontologies. This paper discusses the results of our research in this area. One of them is a formulation for a new structural measure which extends famous related works. In this measure with a special attention to the transitive properties, it is tried to increase recall with less harm on precision. Second contribution is a new method for compound measure creation without any need to the mapping extraction phase. Effectiveness of these ideas is discussed and quantitative evaluations are explained in this paper. Copyright © 2006, Hassan Abolhassani, Babak Bagheri Hariri, & Seyed H. Haeri

Abstract
In the last decade, many potent analytical methods have been utilized to find the approximate solution of nonlinear differential equations. Some of these methods are energy balance method (EBM), homotopy perturbation method (HPM), variational iteration method (VIM), amplitude frequency formulation (AFF), and max-min approach (MMA). Besides the methods mentioned above, the Akbari-Ganji method (AGM) is a highly efficient analytical method to solve a wide range of nonlinear equations, including heat transfer, mass transfer, and vibration problems. In this study, it was constructed the approximate analytic solution for movement of two mechanical oscillators by employing the AGM. In the derived...

Abstract
An algorithm is proposed to optimize the performance of multiphase structures (composites) under elastodynamic loading conditions. The goal is to determine the distribution of material in the structure such that the time-averaged total stored energy of structure is minimized. A penalization strategy is suggested to avoid the checkerboard instability, simultaneously to generate near 0-1 topologies. As a result of this strategy, the solutions of presented algorithm are sufficiently smooth and possess the regularity of H1 function space. A simple method for the continuum adjoint sensitivity analysis of the corresponding PDE-constrained optimization problem is presented. It is general and can be...

Abstract
In this investigation a theoretical model based on artificial neural network (ANN) has been developed to predict porosity percent and correlate the chemical composition and cooling rate to the amount of porosity in Al-Si casting alloys. In addition, the sensivity analysis was performed to investigate the importance of the effects of different alloying elements, composition, grain refiner, modifier and cooling rate on porosity formation behavior of Al-Si casting alloys. By comparing the predicted values with the experimental data, it is demonstrated that the well-trained feed forward back propagation ANN model with eight nodes in hidden layer is a powerful tool for prediction of porosity...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Modarres Yazdi, Mohammad (Supervisor)
Abstract
Data envelopment Analysis is a non parametric technique which estimates the efficiency of a decision making unit in compare with others. In correspondent literature this unit’s Inputs and outputs are often assumed to be deterministic, but in recent years different approaches which viewing the data as non deterministic are presented. In this study we propose an algorithm for determining the stability region of a DMU while we assume other DMUs’ data are fixed. This algorithm is based on changing the reference set of the under investigation DMU. In fact applying these changes make the DMU move toward other DMUs’ efficient frontiers and by using this fact it is possible to determine the...
