Aggregation-based colorimetric sensor for determination of prothioconazole fungicide using colloidal silver nanoparticles (AgNPs)

    , Article Spectrochimica Acta - Part A: Molecular and Biomolecular Spectroscopy ; Volume 187 , 2017 , Pages 143-148 ; 13861425 (ISSN) Ivrigh, Z. J. N ; Fahimi Kashani, N ; Hormozi Nezhad, M. R ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
There is a growing interest in developing high-performance sensors monitoring fungicides, due to their broadly usage and their adverse effects on humans and wildlife. In the present study, a colorimetric probe has been proposed for detection of prothioconazole based on aggregation of unmodified silver nanoparticles (AgNPs). Under optimized condition, linear relationships between the concentration of prothioconazole and the absorbance ratio of A500/A395 were found over the range of 0.01 μg·mL− 1 to 0.4 μg·mL− 1 with quantification limit as low as 1.7 ng·mL− 1. Furthermore, AgNPs color change from yellow to pink-orange in presence of prothioconazole, indicates highly sensitive naked-eye...

Core-shell γ-Fe2O3/SiO2/PCA/Ag-NPs hybrid nanomaterials as a new candidate for future cancer therapy

    , Article International Journal of Nanoscience ; Vol. 13, issue. 1 , February , 2014 Soleyman, R ; Pourjavadi, A ; Masoud, N ; Varamesh, A ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
In the current study, γ-Fe2O3/SiO 2/PCA/Ag-NPs hybrid nanomaterials were successfully synthesized and characterized. At first, prepared γ-Fe2O3 core nanoparticles were modified by SiO2 layer. Then they were covered by poly citric acid (PCA) via melting esterification method as well. PCA shell acts as an effective linker, and provides vacancies for conveying drugs. Moreover, this shell as an effective capping agent directs synthesis of silver nanoparticles (Ag-NPs) via in situ photo-reduction of silver ions by sunlight-UV irradiation. This system has several benefits as a suitable cancer therapy nanomaterial. Magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) can guide Ag-NPs and drugs to cancer cells and then...

    Laser-assisted triggered-drug release from silver nanoparticles-grafted dual-responsive polymer

    Abstract
Laser assisted drug release from a synthesized plain polymer composed of poly (butyl methacrylate-co-acrylamide-co-methacrylic acid) [P(BMA-co-AAm-co-MAA)] and a metallo-polymer composed of silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs) grafted plain polymer (the nanocomposite) were studied to investigate their capability to serve as drug carriers. Positive temperature dependent swelling changes were observed for both carriers and their thermal sensitivity and thermal and optical switching properties were investigated in two buffered solutions. An acidic solution with pH = 1.2 to simulate stomach body condition and a neutral solution with pH = 7.4 to simulate intestine condition. Reversible phase transition...

Performance of silver nanoparticle fixed on magnetic iron nanoparticles (Fe3O4−Ag) in water disinfection

    Abstract
Microbial contamination poses a serious threat to human health. The evaluation of alternative systems and their reliability for the treatment of water is essential. In this work, a new method for the deposit of more silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) on the external surface of Fe3O4 nanoparticles is presented. Fe3O4 nanoparticles were synthesised by chemical co-precipitation and were modified in two stages using 3-mercaptopropyl trimethoxysilane and grafting allyl glycidyl ether and N, N-dimethylacrylamide. Then, AgNPs were loaded onto the modified Fe3O4 to be used for water disinfection. The resulting nanoparticles were characterised by transmission electron microscopy, X-ray powder diffraction,...
