    Abstract
In this paper, we consider to seek vulnerabilities and we conduct possible attacks on the crucial and essential parts of Android OSs architecture including the framework and the Android kernel layers. As a regard, we explain the Binder component of Android OS from security point of view. Then, we demonstrate how to penetrate into the Binder and control data exchange mechanism in Android OS by proposing a kernel level attack model based on the hooking method. As a result, by implementing the attack model, it is illustrated that the Android processes are detectable and the data can be extracted from any process and system calls. © 2016 IEEE

A smart-phone based ratiometric nanoprobe for label-free detection of methyl parathion

    , Article Sensors and Actuators, B: Chemical ; Volume 322 , 2020 Fahimi Kashani, N ; Hormozi Nezhad, M. R ; Sharif University of Technology
    Elsevier B.V  2020
    Abstract
The widespread use of pesticides in pest management has boosted the demands for developing highly sensitive probes for on-site monitoring. Herein we presented a sensitive enzyme-free ratiometric probe for determination of methyl parathion (MP), as an organophosphate pesticide using TGA-capped CdTe QDs and carbon dots (CDs). Unlike previous methods in which hydrolysis product of MP is instrumental in the response of the sensors, here, self-assembly of cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) on the surface of non-modified yellow-emissive CdTe QDs facilitates the quenching of CTAB-QDs upon addition of MP while the fluorescence intensity of CDs remains constant. Using a smartphone, the ratiometric...

    Abstract
Driving behavior recognition is a notable topic in travel safety, as transportation and insurance companies could adopt effective tools to detect unsafe driving and internalize the associated costs. Different driving events and the related severity must be detected to distinguish abnormal behaviors. The global positioning system (GPS) provides useful information regarding the location of the vehicle at any time and is vastly used in various devices such as smartphones and GPS trackers. Other sensors, on the other hand, provide complementary valuable information but their implementation requires extra costs and more complex and intensive algorithms. We developed a threshold-based algorithm to...

    Abstract
The importance of tracing dopaminergic agents in the progression assessment of Parkinson's disease has boosted the demand for fast, sensitive, and real-time multi-analyte detection. Herein, visual and fingerprint fluorimetric patterns have been created by an optical sensor array to simultaneously detect and discriminate among levodopa, carbidopa, benserazide, and entacapone, as important dopaminergic agents. A dual emissive nanoprobe consisting of red quantum dots and blue carbon dots with an overall pink emission has been fabricated to provide unique emission patterns in the presence of the target analytes. The sensor elements in the array come from it's differential response in the absence...

    Abstract
In the past few years, most studies have focused on smart substances that can respond to changes in the environment, as they can be appropriately applied in different fields, including biosensing, biotechnology, and drug delivery. Here, new fluorescent carbon dots (CDs) are synthesized by Terebinth by designing a simple and single-stage hydrothermal path, which facilitates the manufacture of CDs with no need for boring artificial methods, or using poisonous/costly solvents and starting substances. The method is used to concurrently form CDs and passivate their surface, which results in inherently emitted fluorescence. The study of the structure and optical features of the resulting CDs...

    Abstract
Many research works have been done in face recognition during the last years that indicates the importance of face recognition systems in many applications including identity authentication. In this paper we propose an approach for face recognition which is suitable for unconstrained image acquisition and has a low computational cost. Since in practical applications such as in smartphones, imaging conditions are not limited to existing images in the database, robustness of the recognition algorithm is very important. Here a sparse representation framework is proposed which achieves some degree of robustness. Using double sparse representation the high computational cost of sparsity-based...

Driving behavior monitoring by smartphone sensors is one of the most investigated approaches to ameliorate road safety. Various methods are adopted in the literature; however, to the best of our knowledge, their robustness to the prediction of new unseen data from different drivers and road conditions is not explored. In this paper, a two-phase Machine Learning (ML) method with taking advantage of high-pass, low-pass, and wavelet filters is developed to detect driving brakes and turns. In the first phase, accelerometer and gyroscope filtered time series are fed into Random Forest and Artificial Neural Network classifiers, and the suspicious intervals are extracted by a high recall. Following...

    Abstract
In this paper, we propose an accurate visible light indoor localization system for a smartphone using the commercial light-emitting diode (LED) panels which are used primarily for lighting. Each of designed lighting panel contains a space-colorcoded identifier, a matrix with a unique pattern of spatially separated colored LEDs, for labeling different positioning cells while the lighting color is kept white by balancing the number of different sets of colored LEDs. The advantage of this idea is that we do not use the time-frequency domain of visible light communication (VLC) networks resources for positioning signaling. Our positioning technique called geometrical optics positioning algorithm...

    Abstract
Chiral recognition has long been a challenging issue to deal with in biological systems, drug design and food authentication. Implementing nanoparticle-based probes with intrinsic or induced chirality in this field has addressed several issues concerning sensitivity, reliability, rapidness and the cost of chiral sensing platforms. Yet, research into chiral nanoprobes that can be used for visual monitoring of chiral substances is still in its infancy. As part of this study, a visual chiral recognition platform has been developed in which a combination of blue-emitting carbon dots (BCDs) and mercaptopropionic acid-capped CdTe quantum dots (MPA-QDs) with inherent chiroptical activity were...
