    Woman-Headed Household and Household Welfare An Emprical Study for Iran

    Abstract
    This research aimed to investigate the relationship between household poverty and the gender of the head in the Iranian households. The self-reported gender of the head of household (FHH), underestimates the rate of poverty in female- head households (FHH). The self-reported gender of the head of household considers, conventionally, a family as male-head, even if the man of the family is incapable of making money. In much of these families the wife is the sole income holder even though she is not recognized as the head.     Study on the economics of happiness has grown rapidly in recent years. Most studies are based on the data from developed countries. In this thesis, determinants of life satisfaction in Iran and some other developing countries have been studied at micro and macro levels.Our research at micro level is based on analyzing 4550 observation for Iran gathered at two years (2003 and 2005), at macro level we have used from microdata of 44 developing countries including Iran. Relevant data was extracted from WVS (World Values Survey) databank.     On the Distortion Value of the Multi-Candidate Elections

    Abstract
    One of the most famous criteria to measure the optimality of the election result in the metric space is the amount of distortion. In this framework, the cost of choosing each candidate is considered equal to the total distance of the community members from that candidate. With this definition, the candidate who has the lowest selection cost among all the candidates is called the optimal candidate. The amount of distortion for an electoral mechanism is equal to the maximum amount of the cost of selecting the selected candidate divided by the cost of selecting the desired candidate.     Abstract
    In this research, the effect of political system on economic performance of resource abundant countries is studied. We use political economy litreture to develop a theoritical model in this issue. Here, the politcal systems are divided to democracy and dictatory and in each of them other institutional variable will be introduced. Policy indicator is based on the difference between social welfare in each situation and its optimal amount when maximized. We show that if democracy does not come with high accountability it reduces social welfare more than dictatory.     Abstract
    Historically, the general target of affecting demand via voltage regulation was conservation, i.e., reducing peak demand and/or accumulated energy. In private environments however, profit maximization may take place of conservation, regardless of the social welfare and consumers' costs. This letter aims at highlighting the effectiveness of voltage regulation as a measure to maximize utilities' profit. The new strategy can indeliberately cause more payments for customers. The letter simulates different cases which reveal importance of the role regulatory bodies have to play to prevent unethical actions in private environments. IEEE
