    Abstract
In this research, carbon nanotube decorated with Cu nanoparticles (CNT/Cu) was synthesized by a new solvothermal process. Solvothermal treatment of CuSO4 and NaOH was completed in ethanol containing ultrasonically dispersed CNTs at 160 °C for 3 h. In the solvothermal process, Cu nanoparticles were heterogeneously deposited on the surface of COOH-functionalized CNTs through the reduction of the Cu+2 ions. Cu nanoparticles with the size of ≈8 nm on CNTs (and some in the solution) and strong bonding between Cu and CNT were obtained by the used process. Microstructural characterization revealed that the solvothermal method is an appropriate method for producing homogenous CNT/Cu nanostructure....

    Abstract
Metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) are best known for their great structural diversity. The uniformity in the properties of MOFs is mainly governed by the size and morphology of the particles. In the present research, iron-MIL-88A was prepared by a modulator-assisted solvothermal method, and the role of modulating agents in the formation process of MOF particles was investigated. Acetic acid and formic acid were chosen as monoligand modulating agents. The changes in morphology and size distribution of the products were scrutinized by using SEM micrographs. Both modulators clearly interfered with the crystallization process through their attachment to the reactive sites. At low modulator...

    , Article Scientia Iranica ; Volume 21, Issue 6 , 2014 , Pages 2468-2478 ; ISSN: 10263098 Vahidshad, Y ; Ghasemzadeh, R ; Zad, A. I ; Mirkazemi, S. M ; Masoud, A ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
CuMS2 (M=A1, In, Fe) ternary compounds were synthesized via the facile polyol method in autoclave. Depending on the functional groups of solvent and surfactant, the structure of the nanocrystals can be controlled in the form of wurtzite or chalcopyrite. The chalcopyrite structure was obtained when the precursors solved in the mixture of diethylene glycol, polyethylene glycol 600 and ammonium hydroxide. When the solvent was replaced by ethylene diamine, the wurtzite was obtained along with chalcopyrite (polytypism). The products were characterized by X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) for analysis of structural properties, Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) for studying morphological...

    Abstract
In this work the plasmonic photocatalytic activity of ZnO/noble metals nanocomposites has been investigated. Ag nanowires and Au nanospheres were prepared and mixed with ZnO in order to prepare the nanocomposites. It was demonstrated that the composites containing the plasmonic Ag nanowires and ZnO nanoparticles showed a significant photocatalytic activity enhancement compared to the pure ZnO in decomposition of methylene blue (MB). By investigation of mechanisms governing the performance of plasmonic photocatalysts, it was found that the photocatalytic activity enhancement can be attributed to the energy transfer from Ag nanowires to the ZnO nanoparticles induced by the surface plasmonic...

MOFs exhibit inherent extraordinary features for diverse applications ranging from cataly-sis, storage, and optics to chemosensory and biomedical science and technology. Several procedures including solvothermal, hydrothermal, mechanochemical, electrochemical, and ultrasound techniques have been used to synthesize MOFs with tailored features. A continued attempt has also been directed towards functionalizing MOFs via “post-synthetic modification” mainly by changing linkers (by altering the type, length, functionality, and charge of the linkers) or node components within the MOF framework. Additionally, efforts are aimed towards manipulating the size and morphology of crystallite domains in...
