A New Immunization Algorithm Based on Spectral Properties for Complex Networks

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Zahedi, Ramin (Author) ; Khansari, Mohammd (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Vaccination is one of the ways of disease control and prevention, which not only protect individuals against the disease, but also reduce the disease spread rate. Mass vaccination of individuals is not always possible due to the high cost and limitation of immunization resources. Therefore, researchers are always seeking solutions to find the persons that their immunization may have a greater impact in reduction of disease spread rate. The advent of network epidemic models and the possibility of removal the secured nodes in those models, showed that this problem is equivalent to finding a limited set of individuals that their removal will eliminate or minimize the number of people at risk of...

    Abstract
Nowadays, we are facing epidemic spreading in many different areas; examples are infection propagation, rumor spreading and computer viruses in computer networks. Finding a strategy to control and mitigate the spread of these epidemics is gaining much interest in recent researches. Due to limitation of immunization resources, it is important to establish a strategy for selecting nodes which has the most effect in mitigating epidemics. In this paper, we propose a new algorithm that minimizes the worst expected growth of an epidemic by reducing the size of the largest connected component of the underlying contact network. The proposed algorithm is applicable to any level of available resources...

Dimension reduction of remote sensing images by incorporating spatial and spectral properties

    , Article AEU - International Journal of Electronics and Communications ; Volume 64, Issue 8 , 2010 , Pages 729-732 ; 14348411 (ISSN) Dianat, R ; Kasaei, S ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
A new and efficient dimension reduction method is introduced in this paper. The proposed method, almost the same as the well-known principal component analysis (PCA) method, enjoys the properties of uncorrelatedness of resulting components and orthogonality of transform coefficients. In addition, by incorporating spatial and spectral properties among image pixels, the method obtains more accurate classification results with less computational cost

Synthesis and spectral properties of Nd-doped glass-ceramics in SiO 2-CaO-MgO system prepared by sol-gel method

    , Article Journal of Rare Earths ; Volume 31, Issue 6 , 2013 , Pages 595-599 ; 10020721 (ISSN) Masoud, E ; Zohreh, H ; Ali, N ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
SiO2-CaO-MgO glass and glass-ceramic powder doped with Nd 3+ were synthesized with sol-gel method. Tetraethylorthosilicate (TEOS), Ca(NO3)2·4H2O, Mg(NO 3)2·6H2O, Nd(NO3) 3·6H2O, ethanol, distilled water, and HNO 3 were used as starting materials. The synthesized powder's properties were examined with simultaneous thermal analysis (STA), X-ray diffraction (XRD), photoluminescence (PL) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) analysis. The STA curves showed that the softening point and crystallization temperatures were shifted to higher temperatures with increasing dopant content. Regarding XRD patterns of glass samples, Nd was found to act as an intermediate oxide in glass matrix. The XRD...
