Abstract
Let A be a Hermitian matrix whose graph is G (i.e. there is an edge between the vertices i and j in G if and only if the (i,j) entry of A is non-zero). Let λ be an eigenvalue of A with multiplicity mA(λ). An edge e=ij is said to be Parter (resp., neutral, downer) for λ,A if mA(λ)-mA-e(λ) is negative (resp., 0, positive ), where A-e is the matrix resulting from making the (i,j) and (j,i) entries of A zero. For a tree T with adjacency matrix A a subset S of the edge set of G is called an edge star set for an eigenvalue λ of A, if |S|=mA(λ) and A-S has no eigenvalue λ. In this paper the existence of downer edges and edge star sets for non-zero eigenvalues of the adjacency matrix of a tree is...

Abstract
We present photometric observations of four transits in the WASP-17 planetary system, obtained using telescope defocusing techniques and with scatters reaching 0.5mmag per point. Our revised orbital period is 4.0 ± 0.6s longer than previous measurements, a difference of 6.6σ, and does not support the published detections of orbital eccentricity in this system. We model the light curves using the jktebop code and calculate the physical properties of the system by recourse to five sets of theoretical stellar model predictions. The resulting planetary radius, R b = 1.932 ± 0.052 ± 0.010R Jup (statistical and systematic errors, respectively), provides confirmation that WASP-17b is the largest...

Abstract
Microlensing events provide a unique capacity to study the stellar remnant population of the Galaxy. Optical microlensing suffers from a near-complete degeneracy between mass, velocity, and distance. However, a subpopulation of lensed stars, Mira variable stars, are also radio-bright, exhibiting strong SiO masers. These are sufficiently bright and compact to permit direct imaging using existing very long baseline interferometers such as the Very Long Baseline Array (VLBA). We show that these events are relatively common, occurring at a rate of ≈2 yr-1 of which 0.1 yr-1 are associated with Galactic black holes. Features in the associated images, e.g., the Einstein ring, are sufficiently well...

Abstract
We present time series photometric observations of 13 transits in the planetary systems WASP-24, WASP-25 and WASP-26. All three systems have orbital obliquity measurements, WASP-24 andWASP-26 have been observed with Spitzer, andWASP-25 was previously comparatively neglected. Our light curves were obtained using the telescope-defocussing method and have scatters of 0.5-1.2 mmag relative to their best-fitting geometric models. We use these data to measure the physical properties and orbital ephemerides of the systems to high precision, finding that our improved measurements are in good agreement with previous studies. High-resolution Lucky Imaging observations of all three targets show no...

Abstract
We report CCD V and I time series photometry of the globular cluster NGC 6333 (M9). The technique of difference image analysis has been used, which enables photometric precision better than 0.05 mag for stars brighter than V ~ 19.0 mag, even in the crowded central regions of the cluster. The high photometric precision has resulted in the discovery of twonew RRc stars, three eclipsing binaries, seven long-term variables and one field RRab star behind the cluster. A detailed identification chart and equatorial coordinates are given for all the variable stars in the field of our images of the cluster. Our data together with the literature V-data obtained in 1994 and 1995 allowed us to refine...

Abstract
We present newphotometric observations ofWASP-15 andWASP-16, two transiting extrasolar planetary systems with measured orbital obliquities but without photometric follow-up since their discovery papers. Our new data for WASP-15 comprise observations of one transit simultaneously in four optical passbands using GROND on the MPG/European Southern Observatory (ESO) 2.2 m telescope, plus coverage of half a transit from DFOSC on the Danish 1.54 m telescope, both at ESO La Silla. ForWASP-16 we present observations of fourcomplete transits, all from the Danish telescope. We use these new data to refine the measured physical properties and orbital ephemerides of the two systems. Whilst our results...

Abstract
Accurate measurements of the physical characteristics of a large number of exoplanets are useful to strongly constrain theoretical models of planet formation and evolution, which lead to the large variety of exoplanets and planetary-system configurations that have been observed. We present a study of the planetary systemsWASP-45 andWASP-46, both composed of a mainsequence star and a close-in hot Jupiter, based on 29 new high-quality light curves of transits events. In particular, one transit of WASP-45 b and four of WASP-46 b were simultaneously observed in four optical filters, while one transit of WASP-46 b was observed with the NTT obtaining a precision of 0.30 mmag with a cadence of...

Abstract
HATS-18 b is a transiting planet with a large mass and a short orbital period, and is one of the best candidates for the detection of orbital decay induced by tidal effects. We present extensive photometry of HATS-18 from which we measure 27 times of mid-transit. Two further transit times were measured from data from the Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS) and three more taken from the literature. The transit timings were fitted with linear and quadratic ephemerides and an upper limit on orbital decay was determined. This corresponds to a lower limit on the modified stellar tidal quality factor of $Q_star ^{, prime } gt 10^{5.11 pm 0.04}$. This is at the cusp of constraining the...

Abstract
We present high-precision photometry of five consecutive transits of WASP-18, an extrasolar planetary system with one of the shortest orbital periods known. Through the use of telescope defocusing we achieve a photometric precision of 0.47-0.83 mmag per observation over complete transit events. The data are analyzed using the JKTEBOP code and three different sets of stellar evolutionary models. We find the mass and radius of the planet to be M b = 10.43 ± 0.30 ±0.24 M Jup and R b = 1.165± 0.055 ±0.014 R Jup (statistical and systematic errors), respectively. The systematic errors in the orbital separation and the stellar and planetary masses, arising from the use of theoretical predictions,...
A note on co-maximal ideal graph of commutative rings
, Article Ars Combinatoria ; Volume 134 , 2017 , Pages 261-265 ; 03817032 (ISSN) ; Miraftab, B ; Nlkandish, R ; Sharif University of Technology
Abstract
Let R be a commutative ring with unity. The co-maximal ideal graph of R, denoted by Γ(.R), is a graph whose vertices are the proper ideals of R which are not contained in the Jacobson radical of R, and two vertices I1 and I2 are adjacent if and only if I1 +I2=R- We classify all commutative rings whose co-maximal ideal graphs are planar. In 2012 the following question was posed: If T(R) is an infinite star graph, can R be isomorphic to the direct product of a field and a local ring? In this paper, we give an affirmative answer to this question

Abstract
A tree containing exactly two non-pendant vertices is called a doublestar. A double-star with degree sequence (k1 +1, k2 +1, 1, ⋯ , 1) is denoted by Sk1,k2 . We study the edge-decomposition of graphs into double-stars. It was proved that every double-star of size k decomposes every 2k-regular graph. In this paper, we extend this result by showing that every graph in which every vertex has degree 2k + 1 or 2k + 2 and containing a 2-factor is decomposed into Sk1,k2 and Sk1-1,k2 , for all positive integers k1 and k2 such that k1 + k2 = k

Abstract
The finite-size effect in gravitational microlensing provides a possibility to measure the limb darkening of distant stars. We use the Finite Element Method (FEM) as an inversion tool for discretization and inversion of the magnification-limb darkening integral equation. This method makes no explicit assumption about the shape of the brightness profile more than the flatness of the profile near the centre of the stellar disc. From the simulation, we investigate the accuracy and stability of this method and we use regularization techniques to stabilize it. Finally, we apply this method to the single lens, high-magnification transit events of OGLE-2004-BLG-254 (SAAO-I),...

Abstract
A proper vertex coloring of a graph G is called a star coloring if every two color classes induce a forest whose each component is a star, which means there is no bicolored P4 in G. In this paper, we show that the Cartesian product of any two cycles, except C3C3 and C3C5, has a 5-star coloring. © 2022 World Scientific Publishing Company

Abstract
WASP-80 is one of only two systems known to contain a hot Jupiter which transits its M-dwarf host star. We present eight light curves of one transit event, obtained simultaneously using two defocussed telescopes. These data were taken through the Bessell I, Sloan g and near-infrared JHK passbands. We use our data to search for opacity-induced changes in the planetary radius, but find that all values agree with each other. Our data are therefore consistent with a flat transmission spectrum to within the observational uncertainties. We also measure an activity index of the host star of log R 'HK =-4.495 log R HK ′ =-4.495, meaning that WASP-80 A shows strong chromospheric activity. The...

Abstract
We present new ground-based, multi-colour, broad-band photometric measurements of the physical parameters, transmission and emission spectra of the transiting extrasolar planet WASP-19b. The measurements are based on observations of eight transits and four occultations through a Gunn i filter using the 1.54-m Danish Telescope, 14 transits through an Rc filter at the Perth Exoplanet SurveyTelescope (PEST) observatory and one transit observed simultaneously through four optical (Sloan g', r', i', z') and three near-infrared (J,H,K) filters, using the Gamma Ray Burst Optical and Near-Infrared Detector (GROND) instrument on the MPG/ESO 2.2-m telescope. The GROND optical light curves have a...

Abstract
We present updates to PRISM, a photometric transit-starspot model, and GEMC, a hybrid optimization code combining MCMC and a genetic algorithm. We then present high-precision photometry of four transits in the WASP-6 planetary system, two of which contain a starspot anomaly. All four transits were modelled using PRISM and GEMC, and the physical properties of the system calculated. We find the mass and radius of the host star to be 0.836 ± 0.063 M⊙ and 0.864 ± 0.024 R⊙ , respectively. For the planet, we find a mass of 0.485 ± 0.027 MJup , a radius of 1.230 ± 0.035 RJup and a density of 0.244 ± 0.014 ρJup . These values are consistent with...

Abstract
We present 13 high-precision and four additional light curves of four bright southernhemisphere transiting planetary systems: WASP-22, WASP-41, WASP-42 and WASP-55. In the cases of WASP-42 and WASP-55, these are the first follow-up observations since their discovery papers. We present refined measurements of the physical properties and orbital ephemerides of all four systems. No indications of transit timing variations were seen. All four planets have radii inflated above those expected from theoretical models of gas-giant planets; WASP-55 b is the most discrepant with a mass of 0.63MJup and a radius of 1.34 RJup. WASP-41 shows brightness anomalies during transit due to the planet occulting...
Stellar rotation effects in polarimetric microlensing

Abstract
It is well known that the polarization signal in microlensing events of hot stars is larger than that of main-sequence stars. Most hot stars rotate rapidly around their stellar axes. The stellar rotation creates ellipticity and gravity-darkening effects that break the spherical symmetry of the source's shape and the circular symmetry of the source's surface brightness respectively. Hence, it causes a net polarization signal for the source star. This polarization signal should be considered in polarimetric microlensing of fast rotating stars. For moderately rotating stars, lensing can magnify or even characterize small polarization signals due to the stellar rotation through polarimetric...
