    Abstract
In the calculation of the optimum loading pattern for a nuclear reactor, several parameters, including the multiplication factor maximization, the raising of the desired safety threshold during the cycle length and the flattening of the radial power peaking factor should be taken into account. Our evaluation of numerous probable arrangements within the VVER-1000 reactor core (approx. 6 × 10 14 cases) indicated that a direct search of the optimum loading pattern is not feasible. Hence, in this study, the weighting factor method and some constraints on the arrangement of the fuel assemblies were applied so that the above cases were reduced to only 244 possible arrangements. Then, using a...

    Abstract
Convolution Neural Networks (CNNs), despite being one of the most successful image classification methods, are not robust to most geometric transformations (rotation, isotropic scaling) because of their structural constraints. Recently, scale steerable filters have been proposed to allow scale invariance in CNNs. Although these filters enhance the network performance in scaled image classification tasks, they cannot maintain the scale information across the network. In this paper, this problem is addressed. First, a CNN is built with the usage of scale steerable filters. Then, a scale equivariat network is acquired by adding a feature map to each layer so that the scale-related features are...

    Abstract
This paper proposes a transient stability constrained controlled islanding (TSC-CI) approach against cascading events in power systems. Using the wide area measurements, the proposed islanding algorithm is implemented regarding the actual dynamic conditions of the resulted islands. Since the main concern, right after the execution of controlled network splitting, is the transient stability of synchronous machines, a transient energy function is utilized for proper network partitioning. The proposed transient stability criterion is expressed as a function of the transfer impedance between each pair of generators in the resulted islands. Transfer impedance between each pair of coherent...
