    Abstract
The application of regularized jump points has been proposed [Khavasi and Mehrany in Opt Commun 284(13):3211–3215, 6] as an adaptive spatial resolution (ASR) technique to improve the convergence of the Fourier modal method (FMM) in the analysis of one-dimensional periodic structures. We extend this approach to obtain the optical response of metal–dielectric crossed gratings, two-dimensional periodic structures with a high-contrast permittivity distribution. A metallic grid and a slab of split-ring resonators are analyzed using the proposed ASR technique, and the results compared with those obtained using the conventional ASR technique and FMM. The results show that, by adequately choosing...

Electrochemical deposition of flower-like nickel nanostructures on well-defined n-si(111):h

    , Article International Journal of Engineering, Transactions B: Applications ; Volume 21, Issue 2 , 2008 , Pages 177-182 ; 1728-144X (ISSN) Torabi, M ; Khalifehzadeh, R ; Arami, H ; Sadrnezhaad, S. K ; Sharif University of Technology
Materials and Energy Research Center  2008
    Abstract
In this paper the electrodeposition of nickel on n-Si(111):H substrate, in the presence of sulphuric acid, was studied. Cyclic voltammetry has been used to characterize the electrochemical behavior of the system. The nickel deposits had a flower-like morphology with the spherical nanostructure nucleus, distributed uniformly on the surfaces of the prepared n-Si(111) substrate

    Abstract
Metamaterials are manmade structures that have attained considerable attention over the past 2 decades in the modern fields like cloaking, sensing, and imaging owing to their ability to harness electromagnetic fields. In this regard, we have inspected the dielectric properties of the hyperbolic metamaterials (HMM) made of metallic nanorods and dielectric medium at the infrared wavelength regime. The periodically arranged subwavelength-sized metallic nanorods embedded in the silicon dioxide (SiO 2) substrate glass. The spacing between two adjacent nanorods is of subwavelength in size. Furthermore, effective permittivity of the metamaterial has been analyzed by employing the Maxwell Garnett...

Evaluation of the reaction mechanism for photocatalytic degradation of organic pollutants with MIL-88A/BiOI structure under visible light irradiation

    , Article Research on Chemical Intermediates ; Volume 45, Issue 3 , 2019 , Pages 1341-1356 ; 09226168 (ISSN) Gholizadeh Khasevani, S ; Gholami, M. R ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
In this study, we synthesized novel visible light photocatalyst MIL-88A/BiOI using depositing BiOI particles on the surface of a metal–organic framework (MIL-88A). Photocatalytic application of binary composite MIL-88A/BiOI was obtained by discoloration of Methylene Blue (MB) and Acid Blue 92 (AB92) in aqueous solution under visible light source. The photodegradation experiments for treating organic dyes show that the MIL-88A/BiOI heterojunction structure possess a higher rate for decomposition of dyes due to the decreased aggregation of the BiOI nanoparticles, effective charge carrier separation and the synergistic effect between MIL-88A and BiOI samples as a heterojunction. Also, the...

    , Article 24th ASM International Heat Treating Conference and Exposition, Detroit, MI, 17 September 2007 through 19 September 2007 ; 2007 , Pages 323-327 ; 9781604239300 (ISBN) TadayonSaidi, M ; Baghersaee, E. N ; Varahram, N ; Rao, M. H ; Rao, G. V. S. N ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
ADI have been used for a wide variety of applications in automotive, rail, and heavy engineering industry because of its excellent mechanical properties such as high strength with good ductility, good wear resistance, and good fatigue properties. The properties of austempered ductile iron are dependent on both chemistry and heat treatment, which has lead to invention of MADI (machinable austempered ductile iron). MADI is a new class of ductile iron with superior mechanical property than regular ductile iron with the same machinability characteristic. In this study Different cycle of austempering process (austenitization and austempering cycle) applied Due to the effect of heat treatment...

    Abstract
Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), known as highly ordered crystalline hybrid structures, are the products of coordination polymerization of transition metals and organic ligands. MOFs are best known for their extensive specific surface area, hierarchically porous and tailorable 1D, 2D, or 3D micro-and nanostructure, and acceptable biocompatibility. Because of the multiplicity of metallic and organic units used in MOFs synthesis, tailor-made MOFs can be synthesized to be served as building blocks of advanced biological materials and systems. Recently, synthesis of green MOFs has received much more attention for nanobiomedicine usage. We review herein synthesis and biomedical application of...

Effect of cryogenic treatment on microstructure, mechanical and wear behaviors of AISI H13 hot work tool steel

    , Article Cryogenics ; Volume 51, Issue 1 , 2011 , Pages 55-61 ; 00112275 (ISSN) Koneshlou, M ; Meshinchi Asl, K ; Khomamizadeh, F ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
This paper focuses on the effects of low temperature (subzero) treatments on microstructure and mechanical properties of H13 hot work tool steel. Cryogenic treatment at -72 °C and deep cryogenic treatment at -196 °C were applied and it was found that by applying the subzero treatments, the retained austenite was transformed to martensite. As the temperature was decreased more retained austenite was transformed to martensite and it also led to smaller and more uniform martensite laths distributed in the microstructure. The deep cryogenic treatment also resulted in precipitation of more uniform and very fine carbide particles. The microstructural modification resulted in a significant...
