    Experimental investigation of the wetted surfaces of stepped planing hulls

    Abstract
    In the current study, experimental tests are conducted to evaluate the hydrodynamic characteristics and the bottom wetted surfaces of the planing hulls equipped by one transverse step. For this purpose, total resistance, dynamic trim angle, dynamic sinkage, reattachment lengths of the separated flow and forebody and aftbody wetted areas are quantitatively measured at different geometrical parameters of the step and hull velocities. Moreover, the bottom wetted surfaces are qualitatively investigated by analyzing the underwater photographs. Our experimental results are also compared by archival data with good accordance.     Abstract
    Green's functions of a transversely isotropic half-space overlaid by a thin coating layer are analytically obtained. The surface coating is modeled by a Kirchhoff thin plate perfectly bonded to the half-space. With the aid of superposition technique and employing appropriate displacement potential functions, the Green's functions are expressed in two parts; (i) a closed-form part corresponding to the transversely isotropic half-space with surface kinematic constraints, and (ii) a numerically evaluated part reflecting the interaction between the half-space and the plate in the form of semi-infinite integrals.     Abstract
    The performance of Co-flow fluidic thrust vectoring is a function of secondary flow characteristics and the fluidic nozzle geometry. In terms of nozzle geometry, wall shape and the secondary slot aspect ratio are the main parameters that control the vector angle. The present study aims to find a high quality wall shape to achieve the best thrust vectoring performance, which is characterized by the maximum thrust deflection angle with respect to the injected secondary air.
