    Abstract
Graphene nanoplatelets with different oxidation degrees, from low polar few-layer graphene (FLG) to high polar graphene oxide (GO) in the same current and concentration of the oxidizing agent in low concentrated electrolytes ((NH4)2SO4, Sodium Do-decyl Sulfate (SDS), and HNO3) are prepared through a one-step and cost-effective electrochemical synthesis route to find the effect of electrolyte on the surface polarity of powders. In order to use a wide variety of electrolytes, basic, neutral, and acidic electrolytes in a concentration as low as 0.2 M are used. Exfoliated graphene nanoplatelets without any further process are obtained to simplify and accelerate the synthesis process. Several...

Flexible high dielectric polystyrene/ethylene-α-octene copolymer/graphene nanocomposites: Tuning the morphology and dielectric properties by graphene's surface polarity

    Abstract
The current research focuses on suggesting a new potential application of polymeric materials for capacitor applications by focusing on polystyrene (PS)/ethylene-α-octene copolymer (EOC) blends. Polymeric materials have high dielectric strength (≈ 200 for PS), good processability, and flexibility. However, their low dielectric constants make them not suitable for capacitor applications. Therefore, suggesting a method for enhancing their dielectric constant accompanied by low tan δ proposes an excellent substitute for commonly used ceramic dielectrics. The current article investigates the control of the dielectric properties of PS/EOC blends by manipulating the graphene nanoplatelets (GNPs)...

The effects of circularly polarized laser pulse on generated electron nano-bunches in oscillating mirror model

    , Article Laser and Particle Beams ; Vol. 32, Issue. 2 , June , 2014 , pp. 285-293 ; ISSN: 02630346 Shirozhan, M ; Moshkelgosha, M ; Sadighi Bonabi, R ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
The effects of the polarized incident laser pulse on the electrons of the plasma surface and on the reflected pulse in the relativistic laser-plasma interaction is investigated. Based on the relativistic oscillating mirror and totally reflecting oscillating mirror (TROM) regimes, the interaction of the intense polarized laser pulses with over-dense plasma is considered. Based on the effect of ponderomotive force on the characteristic of generated electron nano-bunches, considerable increasing in the localization and charges of nano-bunches are realized. It is found that the circularly polarized laser pulse have N e/N cr of 1500 which is almost two and seven times more than the amounts for...

Effect of low-frequency oxygen plasma on polysulfone membranes for CO 2/CH 4 Separation

    , Article Journal of Applied Polymer Science ; Volume 124, Issue SUPPL. 1 , 2012 , Pages E199-E204 ; 00218995 (ISSN) Modarresi, S ; Soltanieh, M ; Mousavi, S. A ; Shabani, I ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
Low-frequency O 2 plasma was used to modify the surface of polysulfone gas-separation membranes. The effects of the treatment time and plasma power input on the membranes were also investigated. Pure CO 2 and CH 4 gas-permeation measurements were performed before and after plasma treatment. The results show the increase of permeability of the treated membranes due to surface ablation and surface polarization up to 5.63 and 68.80 gas-permeation units for CH 4 and CO 2, respectively, whereas, the CO 2/CH 4 selectivity of the treated membranes varied from 7.7 to 45.3, depending on the treatment conditions. Attenuated total reflection-Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy determined the...
